They guys at the Golden Leaf in Steamboat did. They did a good job explaining to us dosages and what not.

no. pot did not make this dude kill himself.

if we start blaming the pot then let's blame the gun or the bullets or the friends or being in Colorado.

If you're finding parts of the story that are inaccurate, I'd genuinely like to know what they are so I can gain a little knowledge on the subject. The biggest problem with the article is the overall tone. The article mentions his suicide in one sentence and never discusses any possible history of mental disorder. Marijuana does not make you want to kill yourself, at least at the level of dosage that is fairly normal for an experienced smoker. The article is totally aimed at painting a new picture of "The Killer Marijuana Plant". The kid killed himself.

I didn't take it a starting a hysteria over pot, rather as a warning of consuming more than the reccomended amount of these edibles. This guy apparently was unaware that overdoing it to the point he did could have serious consequences.

A. Darth conveniently didn't quote cause of death in OP.

B. That is not that much THC.

C. He frickING SHOT HIMSELF.

D. His friends saw him acting, as they say, very bizarre and detached and still left him at the house alone with a handgun.

E. This journalist should be ashamed and should be fired.

you know as well as most people in the world that you are responsible for your own actions.

no one in their right mind would be blaming alcohol if some drunk shot himself.

come on, darth. you're better than this.

Are you serious? You're blaming pot for this? Eating 50 mg of THC doesn't make people kill themselves. This guy had other issues and this situation is bizarre.

He might be alive today if he had. Different substances affect people in different ways. Apparently it affected this guy in a very bad way from the description given of his actions after eating however much he ate over what's recommended.

He honestly didn't consume that much THC. That amount would basically just make a normal human being sink into a couch for 1-2 hours. Have a psychotic episode is due to him have mental instabilities.

I'm not saying he's not responsible. There were warnings in the packaging that he should have read and understood.

He is described as acting super stoned. Being super stoned doesn't make people kill themselves. This guy had other issues. Period.

you laugh but

quote:

"It's really our job and our responsibility to educate them and let them know, this is a lot different than what your friend made in the '60s," says Organic Alternatives manager Maka Kalaí. That's why the staff hands out industry-developed edibles education cards with every purchase, telling consumers to "Start Low and Go Slow."

State law requires specific information on all marijuana packages. In addition, Colorado has been rolling out rules for the edible-marijuana sector in batches for almost a year now.

Regulators dropped a big set of what they call "emergency rules" on Aug. 1, which spell out serving sizes limited to 100 milligrams of THC per product, and, new warning labels.

Sounds more like chugging a fifth of tequila and purposely jumping off a bridge.

getting super high isn't the same as being mentally unstable and shooting yourself.

mental instability mixed with weed/alcohol/shrooms/benzos/etc is a bad combination.

It's more like drinking half a fifth of tequila and shooting yourself.

50 mg THC is not that much. A fifth of tequila would hospitalize most and can be deadly.
