There should be more East teams with winning records in the playoffs compared to last year though, and maybe even a few 50 win teams, so there is some progress there.
And I will never feel sorry for the Pels' regarding the playoffs after laying that dud on that East coast road trip.

Sucks we're getting bit in the arse but if we want to make the playoffs, how bout not losing 5 of 6 in a crucial stretch when our main rival has significant injuries that swung the door wide open for us? shite, it was a fun season. Nice to be somewhat relevant again.

False,
the cycle isn't truly cyclical if sub .500 teams aren't getting lottery picks but are making the playoffs and getting beat in 4 or 5 games every year.
Having the top-16 teams make the playoffs also helps to improve those fringe playoff teams in the East who have no business in the playoffs.
