Falling water kills the shallow bite worse. I would stick to the outside humps and what not for fish that have not moved up yet.

It could be worse. The Ford Mega Bass tournament on Fork last Sunday had 2,000 boats.

Here's my take and take it FWIW.
TOBI got the fish spooked.
I would have fish thick brush or Carolina rig deep.
Also I would have tried twitching a senko really fast until I found a pattern.
Once you find a pattern fish it until you stop catching.
I've been to Toledo many times and there are days where you have to work for fish.
One day of my vacation I caught 0 keeprs, only dinks, next day I had 12 keeprs including 3 over 6 pounds .
It happens though .

Wish I was going over there. That's my absolute favorite way to catch them.

Well we pulled up last Wednesday 20 feet from the bank in 5 foot of water with a little patch of grass and proceeded to catch 20 bass in 15 minutes from 3-6 pounds.
I threw in the exact same spot and caught 8 of those.
Hope that makes you feel better.
It's a crap shoot everyday. Jug have to take your chances and don't give up.
Another boat of people we know went in at 6 because it was so slow and missed the action. About a mile away someone caught an 11 1/2 pounder at the same time our fish turned on.

I got a last minute invite on a trip for some perch so won't be going to TB tomorrow. Hope this weather does shut down what happened today. Finally get to use my jigging pole.

One of the worst things that has happened to Toledo is the Big Bass program advertising and sending out a press release and pic everytime some yahoo catches a fish over 10lbs. This has had the effect of attracting every Tom, Dick and Harry that has a boat within a 500 mile radius. The Lake can't take all this ridiculous pressure and boat traffic without affecting the
quality of the fishing!

I'm not trying to sound like a know it all but prolly what you expirrienced is spawned bass. They act differently. I live on a lake north of Toledo, our fish have spawned for the most part. Yes more will in the next month. Fishing is great if you know how to catch post spawn bass especially with high dark water. If you were not throwing your bait on the bank and I mean in the grass you were fishing to deep. If you could not get to a bank to throw to the fish were out of reach. The males watch the bed by staying in them and the females stay in the first deeper water but real close by. You have to trigger them by a bait they think is brim. Their enemy now, (Spro Frogs can work well too.) For now I would look for fresh bed fish in the mouths of creeks on the south end of the lake as the first spawn fish go to the back. I could go on but that's what I Would try.

Honestly unless it's a tournament there is plenty of places to fish, with fish.
That lake is huge and the bass program is to attract tourists and make TB more popular to boost the economy.
Most people there go only occasionally and probably won't affect the bass population at all.
My problem is the tournament fishermen and guides that want you to throw everything back, while keeping everything they catch.
That is an elitist attitude and it's wrong.
It's public, that is the way it is suppose to be.
Everyone should have access to go out and enjoy it with family or friends.
My memories of TB are some of my best ever...

Every tournament I've ever been involved in has been catch and release. Never been on a guide trip there.

I had a great day, not in numbers, as we only caught 11, but got a personal best with a 11.9. was flipping a black/blue creature bait and was done with the cast, and was reeling it back to the boat, and she just loaded up on it. Place is in Amity AR, and I was invited by my buddy to fish today. Was only 4 boats on the lake, as it was cold/windy, but glad we did.

I've fished at least 20 tournaments there and only twice have fish been released.
We weighed in first at Big Bass and released every fish (10).
Every other team wasn't within 10 pounds of us and kept their fish.
I'm talking about club tournaments, not McDonald's or Oilmens.
There are tons of club tournaments there during the summer.
We night fish a lot and usually run into people from different clubs there every time we fish.
My point was if they keep the fish it isn't fair for them to bitch when recreational fishermen do too...
There are literally millions of bass there, slim chance weekenders are hurting the population.

My dad is at blue lake right now. He has caught 3 fish and lost a 4 pounder at the boat. He said there are a ton of boats and a lot of fish being caught.

I figured as soon as the water starting clearing up people would start catching better.
