Restoril is the only thing that works for me. I can be exhausted and still just lay in my bed thinking about all kinds of stuff. Will fall asleep for an hour or two and go in and out of dreams all night but I'm never asleep for more than an hour or two. It sucks. Exercise doesn't help. Drinking copious amounts of alcohol will help sometimes but not always.

they prescribe xanax for a reason. im not saying he should take 4mg a night for the rest of his life for him to sleep. but people dealing with anxiety sometimes need xanax or antidepressents to calm there anxiety to the point where they start to realize that they can overcome it. And then you ween yourself off of it just like any other pharmaceutical thats addicting.

Agreed, just wanted the OP to know that it could be Obama''s fault, in the future.

Consider yourself lucky. In and out of dreams for me are 5 minutes at most. But, I feel your pain.

Not before reading this thread. I'm sure that's all changed now. Thanks a lot.

OP, wouldn't be surprised if you have sleep apnea. Your sleep study would probably flesh this out. That phobia is common with Sleep Apnea patients.

Not to that extent, but when I'm extremely stressed, I don't want to sleep. It's not that I can't sleep, it's like you say, a compulsion not to sleep.

Yep...
