Late-game lapses an obvious thing he needs to get hammered out though -- LINK

If you look at results, it's obvious he has done a good job. But I agree with Rabalais, he needs to continue to improve. There were some games that we shouldn't have lost this year, but I am more than happy with the progression of the program and I'm hoping the fans appreciate it and come out next year and support the Tigers.

I agree with Rabalais.

Coach Jones has been the opposite of Trent since he's been here. He has improved every year since being here from not playing in the post season his first year to making the NIT his second and now making the NCAA tournament this year. Yes he has flaws, but he'll only get better and at the rate he's going, he'll go further next year. He's the opposite of Trent.

Not going to read what Rabalais has to say but Jones has done a good job improving us each year. I still think his best coaching job was actually his first year where he pushed a dog shite roster to what should have been a NIT bid. Im pleased that we advanced to the real dance finally, but he has to get better at in-game management.

His recruiting is top notch. I think we are seeing it now that instead of just bringing in raw players he is brining in top polished guys like Simmons. He also did a excellent job with improving TQ.

He doesn't even really have to get better at the X and O part of the game. He needs to get better at knowing when to actually reign in his players. His style is a good one if you know how to properly pull them back in. Id like to see a timeout when we get out of control for 2 or 3 possessions in a row. He also needs to do a better job working the officials. He shouldn't be scared to death of getting a technical foul or a warning. I would also like to see him improve sub patterns, because even with a short bench you can keep guys fresh.

Overall I feel confident that LSU basketball is heading in the correct direction. I do think it is critical he improves his in-game coaching considering what is going on with the sec right now since state looks to be alive again and Bama might be a threat at some point.

Talent level has consistently improved (credit to him for that) and our floor has risen. Unfortunately, I still think we have yet to reach our ceiling with the talent we have had (ie haven't met potential). Need to see him get the most of out of his talent on a consistent basis.

there is a difference between the x and o strategy of the game and actual in game management.

Bingo!!! Basketball, when it's at its best, is a free flowing game. There aren't a lot of "plays", but rather a structure off of which plays are made. Jones would instantly become a much better coach by just putting more attention to detail. 75% of LSU's turnovers were them being unnecessarily out of control. Pushing the pace is great, but smart teams know when to push and when to throttle back. Also, just a basic understanding of situation would go a long way. The most frustrating part about the NC State is that you saw (with TQ at the point) a team playing smart in the second half. They just missed absolutely everything!!

IMO, attention to detail is what separates good teams from great ones, and holding guys accountable for a lack of attention is imperative. It's why teams like Wisconsin and Michigan St. always seem to show up big in March. They do the small things, rebound, defend, don't take bad shots that eventually add up to victories. Hell, watch Calipari even. For as ultra-talented as his rosters are, he doesn't give his guys a pass for playing unfocused basketball.

Jones has done the most difficult part well (bringing in the players) Now he just has to make his program one that doesn't constantly beat itself

Upperclassmen at guard help with that. LSU didn't have that this year and it really showed.

LSU's two starting guards at the beginning of the season were both Juniors (one a 4th year Junior). Hell, the to underclassmen (Quarterman and Patterson) were probably the most savvy with the ball in their hands.
