That's awful. The only fish we eat that's not locally caught is orange roughy, and it usually comes from S. America or Costa Rica, I believe.

orange roughy is generally caught from unsustainable fisheries. I'd avoid that one too.

Farm raised is inevitable but sources certainly should be checked. I buy and eat Mississippi farm raised catfish because it is regulated and the feed has come a long way since the late 70's when they first started. Most redfish bought is farm raised but here in BR I don't have much need to buy Chinese or South American aquaculture and virtually no need to buy farm raised shrimp.

I buy Scottish salmon every so often. I wonder if they are holding hostage some French women in the Highlands to do their evil bidding...

I just bought 9 lbs of peeled and deveined Malaysian shrimp for $6.66 per pound. I appreciate the Malaysian workers' hard work.

I catch my redfish I have never bought any. I meant in BR there is no reason to buy farm raised shrimp.

Texas and Mississippi farm raise ton's of redfish.
