America's Game is truly taking off at every age level, most notable in the college ranks.
This weekend you, depending on your cable/satellite tv provider, you can see as many as 10 NCAA lacrosse games in both the men's & women's game. My DVR will certainly be working overtime!
Just this week, our own LSU Lacrosse program was featured on Pelican Sports TV vs. ULL.
Game Highlights
Any MSB lax fans looking forward to any games in particular this weekend/season?

I don't know much about lax but the face off at the beginning is the best start to a game of any sport

#1 Syracuse @ #2 Notre Dame on ESPNU - noon / 11 Cent Saturday
I wantched ND shutout Ohio St. last weekend - for those that aren't big lax fans a shutout is very rare and embarrasing. I'm interested to see if ND is that good or if OSU just had a a bad day.

I think Notre Dame is just that good. I think they'll get the best of the Cuse

Yeah the ACC tourney might be as fun as the actual one.

... and a former ACC school is ranked 3rd.
What the hell is going on at Hopkins? 3-5?!

I always look forward to lax season, especially catching the championships during Memorial Day weekend at good ole Dewey Beach.

I always look forward to see how Maryland will lose in the Final Four.

I can't stand the corrupt ACC. Historically speaking, the ACC has always been stacked. When they added 'cuse and ND it only made things stronger to the already strong stable of Virginia, Maryland, UNC, and Duke. I can't believe the NCAA allowed them to stack the chips like this and generate the $125K they will get from having so many teams in the tourney.

Just imagine if the ACC had their own network a la SEC Network & Big Ten Network. They would have some serious ratings & the game would certainly grow even faster.
With 3 of the Power 5 conferences represented in college lacrosse now (SEC, ACC, Big Ten, & Pac-12)-you have to wonder how long until the SEC goes "All In" with both men's & women's lacrosse to start dominating.
With the weather in the SEC region, the game would flourish 100%. Many of the historically dominate teams would love to come down in February & early March to play in our wonderful sunny & warm weather as opposed to blowing the snow off of the fields before face off & practices...

Anyone know if/when SMU is going to go forward with adding lacrosse? I know it was on the agenda when SMU moved to the American Conference

The recruits won't be there for the first few years for the SEC. Would make things really interesting none the less.

What are you guys laughing at?
Just look at what Florida has done in its 1st 5 years of NCAA women's lacrosse competition.

Moral of the Story: IF done correctly, the SEC would be a dominate force in the lacrosse ranks.

In June 2006, the University Athletic Association announced the creation of the new Gators women's lacrosse program, citing the phenomenal growth of high school lacrosse across the country and the increased availability of Division I competition. Florida became the second Southeastern Conference member university to offer lacrosse as a varsity sport, following Vanderbilt University,[42] and played its inaugural 2010 season in the American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) together with the Commodores. The Gators and Commodores continued to play in the ALC until conference realignment led to the demise of the ALC following the 2014 season, after which both programs became single-sport members of the Big East Conference.[43] The Gators lacrosse team is the only Gators team that does not compete in the SEC.
The Gators lacrosse team has had phenomenal success over its first five seasons, including four regular season ALC conference championships (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014), two ALC conference tournament titles (2012, 2014), four consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament national quarterfinals ("Elite Eight"), and one appearance in the NCAA Tournament national semifinals ("Final Four") in 2012. The Gators have been ranked among the top ten women's lacrosse teams in the country each of the last four seasons, and have been ranked as high as No. 1.
Amanda O'Leary is the Gators' head coach. Before she was named to jump-start Florida's new program, O'Leary was the head coach at Yale University for 14 seasons, and was honored as a two-time All-American midfielder at Temple University, where she led her team to an NCAA championship in 1988.
The Gators' first recruiting class of twenty-four freshmen featured seven US Lacrosse high school. All-Americans[44] and six Under Armour high school All-Americans.[45] In only the second season of the Gators lacrosse program, the mostly-sophomores team defeated the defending ALC champion Northwestern Wildcats to win their first regular season conference championship.[46] The Gators completed a perfect 5–0 season three days later by defeating the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nasvhille.[47]
The Gators women's lacrosse team plays its home games in the 1,500-seat Donald R. Dizney Stadium.[30]
Moral of the Story: IF done correctly, the SEC would be a dominate force in the lacrosse ranks.

Uh, that women's lacrosse, and they haven't exactly been dominating.
Posted on 3/25/15 at 8:36 pm to forever lsu30
Just no, dude. Maybe in 20 years. Without a lucrative future in professional lacrosse, people are not going to pass up the best of the best universities to go to lsu or Bama.
Education wise Syracuse, Hopkins, notre Dame, Duke, etc all stand light years above the SEC. Education is what matters to top lacrosse recruits because even if they go pro, they still need a good job since the mll doesn't pay shite.

You will be pleasantly surprised.
Florida is already bringing in top women's lacrosse recruits as is Oregon. And there's no professional women's league.
Michigan & Ohio State take in the best of the mid-west & many from the traditional "hot beds".
As much as traditional lacrosse players chose their schools over the lacrosse team, that is simply not going to be the case much longer. The draw of the BIG schools is taking over. Playing in great spring weather at schools with 1st class facilities will win. Afterall, there's only so many spots available at Duke, Cuse, Hopkins, & Notre Dame.
The talent pool is growing in states like Florida, Georgia, Texas, Colorado, & California. The players have got to go somewhere to play...might as well be the SEC. Why not? The arms race is actually making the SEC the most viable option, provided solid coaches are hired & the schools back up the programs, like we've seen at Florida & Vandy.
