The LSU team used to lift there before getting their own area in the Rec.

Paul still hosts events (not at his venue) in the area and his equipment comes and goes as needed for those events.

Just a full circuit is what he called it. Rows, squats, pull-ups, etc etc. At a crossfit place in Houston.

It's just a quick effective workout that can be done in your back yard IMO. I understand all the movements and what's being done from many years in a traditional gym and my first college degree, but I just don't think it's worth the money.

If one is looking for the group setting, coaching and motivation, then by all means have at it, but I won't be returning.

I met his wife once when she stopped in to pick a few things up at the gym.

Paul used to competitive bodybuild back in the day.

I dropped in at CF Eado a few weeks ago in Houston.

It was..

5 15' rope climbs
20 TTBs
30 KB swings 53#
40 wall balls 20#
50 hand release pushups
100 double unders (or 200 singles)

...I was wore out after that 15+ min workout.

I'm pretty sure that's the guy then.
His wife asked me to go join and compete in the meets, but I told her I don't have the motivation for powerlifting anymore. I just do charity meets (a sponsor donates a dollar for every pound you lift)
I concentrate all my energy on my bodybuilding

If you go around 9am, you will run into the 3 Ds:

3 guys in their 60s deadlifting over 400, some benching over 300 and squatting over 300.

The fact that someone with knowledge of resistant physical fitness training would pay a nice sum of money to do exercises that you can do at home.

Oh, but you get to do it in a metal building with big fans blowing and techno playing.

Some need the motivation, and having 10-15 people there doing the same workout will push them moreso than doing it in their own.

Which is what I said in my first explanation. I just think that for what you're getting, it's kind of a sham.

Think of it this way...

If the CF gym employs good coaches, then it's like having a trainer with you every workout.

A trainer 3x week in a regular globo gym, along with the gym dues, would easily push $200+/month.

Well shite, do we close restaurants? We can cook. Dry cleaners? We can press clothes. Oil changes. Veggies from a store, really?

I have a worthless masters in exercise science, an athletic background in the rearview, and I enjoy the folks I work out with, I enjoy the concepts and I have enjoyed the results.

I just don't understand why someone paying for a service makes it a sham...but only in this particular area.

I guess I need to give my opinion on CF since that is name of the thread..

If you do CF.... Go there, train, get fit, get healthy, compete in it, and go about your business.. Good for you. That's your thing if you like it. More power to you for trying to stay healthy and fit.. Hell, I'll even go watch and cheer you on
It's the people that tell me their training is better, blow up social media bragging about it and just don't stop that get to me.
Personally, I have never tried it. It's not for me. I like to work out slow and controlled for my competing reasons. I know people say bad things about the coaches, but they got some bad personal trainers too, especially in Baton Rouge....
To each his own.
Do what you want to and stay fit and healthy...

No I am not. I just find it amusing that people get emotional enough about a leisure activity to call it a sham, when just saying 'its not for me' is accurate and completely understandable.
