I posted a thread a while back on a Nitro Z6 vs. Ranger alum. comparison and got feedback mostly on the Ranger alum. For all you RT 188 owners, I have a few questions:

1. How's the rough water ride? Such as riding through the intracoastal (around tug boat wakes and swells), choppy lakes, etc..

2. How does it fish on windy days? I'm used to fishing from a fiberglass boat, where the wind doesn't push us around too much. But I've also fished from a small alum. boat where the wind gusts would send us cartwheeling.

3. How dry is the storage? I've heard it go both ways on how effective the rubber gaskets are around the front storage.

4. Do you feel restricted at all when fishing certain waters, areas, etc.. that you wish you had the capabilities of? This coming from a bass and sac au lait fisherman that will occasionally hit inshore specs and reds.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks in advance OB.

I don't have a ranger but I did have an Xpress tin rig close to the same style as the Ranger you are looking at.

1) wind will always be an issue and you will get pushed around a good bit. An upgrade to the trolling motor would be a must. If you like fishing in one spor power poles may also be an option.

2) we took our Xpress all over with no problems. Big open water like Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn as well as south la in the spillways and marshes. I never felt restricted.

1) the hull is foam filled so its not as bad as other aluminum boats. Its not as smooth as my old glass boat but its much smoother than I inticipated. Never have I felt unsafe in it nor have I ever got wet from wakes or rough water.
2) my biggest and only complaint so far. I am getting used to it but it takes a lot more trolling motor attention than my glass boat.
3) I spray my carpet down after every trip so far witb the hose and havent vot one drop of water in the storave areas.
4) I mainly fish the spillway around pigeon and feel i can get to more places with the 188 than my old boat

Anything else feel free to ask. I love my 188 and only wish I had bought it sooner
