Been in the same lease since '94. Landowners changed a bunch of rules, upped the price, and keept getting more restrictive on the game we allowed to take. On top of all that they never held up their end of the deal regarding keeping the cows out of some areas and habitat managment. Gona be a real pita moving out.

I'll need the landowners name and comtact info. I'll call and get this taken care of for you.

It gets better.....
We lost ours at the begining of February- had just put out new gravity feeders and a bunch of protein. I was hurt because I felt that I had done a lot to help the property and it appears that the landowner would rather her stepson and his merry band of fools do as they please with the whole place. I said I would NEVER be in a lease again- would go on a few trips a year to get my fix.
Fast forward a few weeks and some other friends of mine asked me to get in on a much bigger tract, better managed, and professionally owned. The land is way closer to home as well.
Getting your stuff out will be a miserable experience- you just gotta suck it up and know there are better days ahead.
I'll miss my guys and relatives tremendously, but am looking forward to making new memories and relationships on the new place.

no. i own that place. this is several 1,000 acres we have been leasing in tx. it stinks bc there have been several generations of us that have killed their first deer there.
i'm not w/o hunting opportunity with the land i own MUCH closer to home (< 1 hr away vs 8+ hrs), and a cousin with a farm in nla that borders tensas.
still, its gona be a MAJOR pia (and probably a fight w/ the land owner - count!) to get all the stuff out of there

That sucks about losing your lease, but if you were willing to drive 8 hours I'm sure you can find something within that radius again without much trouble.

You know the drill......
Tear down every stand you built if it can't be moved. Salt the hell out of every food plot / green field you planted.
Just buy the entire pallet of salt

Not cool. Sucks to lose a good lease, but not cool.

my condolences sir. That sucks. No two ways about it. Only advice I can offer is to use that money to make an annual excursion somewhere that is memorable for you and your kids. It's not the same as having a yearly lease, but knowing you'll always take them somewhere will be nice.

it was a pretty good lease, other than the ownwers. good price equal to the effort required to keep it huntable.
im not gona miss the 8+ hr drive, passing thru houston, or paying $315 out of state license
