Personally, I think Emeril is ranked way too low - he singlehandedly proved that a cooking show could succeed in prime time and propped up the Food Channel for years until it became stable. Ridiculous that Guy Fieri ranks higher.

18. Emeril Live!

1997 - 2007
When you think of bombastic personalities in televisual cooking… Guy Fieri is probably the first that comes to mind. But without the influence of the original larger-than-life spice-flinger Emeril Lagasse, many chefs of today wouldn’t even have gotten their start. Watch the guy effortlessly perform culinary stunts in front of an enormous, riveted live audience and you’ll gain a larger-than-life amount of respect for him. BAM! That’s the sound of respect. And spices.

You can learn a lot from Good Eats, but this list is missing a couple I enjoyed just for entertainment value alone. Justin Wilson, and Yan Can Cook. Those are some classics.

List is garbage. 10 of those I'd consider worst of all time.

Agreed the list is garbage. There is a significant "new/current" show bias.

The dessert shows are geared nearly entirely for women.

Ming Tsai at #5. Wah???

Emeril is on air for 10 years and he's toward the bottom of the list?

Thanks again Thrillist

Anything with screaming judges should be DQ'd. Or that's a "reality show with goombahs or cakes tied to movie premieres. What a bag o crap.

No Jacques Pepin either.

ATK
Good Eats
Emeril (original)
Flay's Throwdown was good.

Dude could debone a chicken like an absolute boss. It's on YouTube. Only word to describe it is majestic.

I'm not sure he even got any meat out of the one he peeled. I'd hope that he wishes he could re-do some ones from the past if he could. I really love the shows despite some of the glaring flaws.

Yahoo lists are notoriously shitty. Yahoo lists are created for the sole purpose of surrounding it with advertising.

The 24 Best Cooking Shows of All Time? Yeah right.
Where the frick is Yan Can Cook?
Where is the Frugal Gourmet?
Where is America's Test Kitchen?
Where is the Great Chefs series?
Where are Lidia Bastianich's shows?
Where the frick is Justin Wilson?
Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home?
Graham Kerr: The Galloping Gourmet?

Screw Yahoo and screw the person that came up with the list and screw that person's mother too.

Totally forgot about the Great Chefs series (not just NOLA). Classic straightforward cooking excellence.

I do like Besh's show.

Emeril Live is what made me start watching cooking shows on cable. He helped make the Food Network into the billion dollar network it is today.

There isn't any show on that channel now that can compete with Justin Wilson's show. I loved his show.
