Something is going to happen with Jimmy's brother to bring shame on the family name causing Jimmy to have to change his. That is the only way I see him changing his name after that lawyer for the old folks home said it was the only reason he gave him a call was because of his name and the possibility he was related to his brother.

I think this whole case gets screwed up somehow but I really hope it doesn't. I want Jimmy to take it to that company in the worst way.

They pretty well telegraphed how this blows up last night when Wexler brings up the partnership agreement stating that brother McGill can't do work outside the firm, and Saul brushes it aside.
I can see Jimmy sticking it to them, hard, and right when millions of dollars are about to fall in his lap, HHM is going to scoop in and find a way to take it all.
It'll start the downward spiral into changing his name and picking a new, less respectable career, because he's lost all faith in the system.

I have a feeling Chuck gets better and somehow dicks Jimmy over. You notice he was hesitant to tell Jimmy he was proud of him. Also, if he was some kind of legend, I find it hard to believe that he couldn't have gotten Jimmy on at his firm.

That's actually a good possibility. Chuck gets better and then backs his old firm against Jimmy, stealing the whole case in the process.
While Jimmy is signing up clients, I'd like to know what documents Chuck is drafting to have them sign.

but I would put BCS S1 up there with BB S1 without hesitation.
Without question. They've done a good of developing the characters and establishing Jimmy's/Saul's background while keeping a nice pace.

i think this is exactly the type of move he'd make
he's a low-level lawyer who may have stumbled onto a 7-figure fee. he's blinded by the dolla dolla bills
Yeah. I think the stuff with the Kellerman's last week stretched the suspension of disbelief way more than this one. It just doesn't seem like there is any way in hell someone would do what he did in that one - have someone break into your client's house to steal money and return it to the DA? I wasn't feeling that at all.
The one thing about this episode for me was trying to figure out what in the heck kind of firm is Hamlin? Seems kind of way to big to be a predominately criminal firm, especially something so specialized as white collar crime. They had what - something like 3 or 4 mail room workers? Now, judging from what the nursing home lawyer said about Chuck representing a co-defendant in a anti trust kind of case, I could see perhaps some sort of combo civil defense and criminal defense firm. Which seems strange too but I guess it could happen.

Mr. Literal. I bet you are fun to watch Star Wars with. Relax, it is TV. The whole thing is fake!

God I love this show
One of the underrated aspects of the characters to me is Howard
Jimmy hates this dude. He is seen as this huge villian, yet when you watch him he doesn't REALLY do anything wrong. He just feels slimmy. Just like a real attorney I suppose

Funny you mention this. On this weeks Insider podcast, the actor who plays Howard says exactly what you say.
He says when the show starts Jimmy calls him Lord Vader so he is immediately thrown into the antagonist role, but he says what have you seen me do beside being a lawyer.
It was great insight into his role. Gilligan mentioned that there is a big Howard piece coming up.

He hates Howard but it's likely his brother who dikked him at the law firm, with Howard being the messenger. And his brother will likely do it to him again.

that's pretty interesting
would be cool to find out that Howard is actually a pretty decent guy and that Chuck is a massive, massive ahole

A BCS spinoff, a lighthearted comedy romp.

I can see the brother being the catalyst from the flashback. He's busy as hell, on top of his game, stressed to the max, and he doesn't want to bring on a lawyer with some practically fake degree with no experience. Not to mention it's his brother, so he would be tugged from both Jimmy and everyone else for that reason. Him originally not wanting Jimmy, I can get that.
But what reason would he have now? He's essentially retired (before this episode anyway when he starts helping jimmy), doesn't leave the house, doesn't appear to hurt for money. He's just kinda there. If/when this case does end up turning over to HHM and Jimmy gets fricked, I'm not sure we can say that it was his brother dicking him over. At least not intentionally IMO.

Notice the way Chuck treats Jimmy like a child and not a brother
Notice his reaction when Jimmy asks him for a job at the firm. He totally had the look of, "oh no, I can't believe he just asked me" He didn't want to hire him.
Howard has been nothing but polite and nice to Jimmy. Seems like they are setting something up to have Chuck screw over Jimmy somehow. He comes to Chuck's house everyday to help take care of him and in the end, he's yet another person walking over him. Something has to happen to make him snap and turn into Saul

Oh I totally agree with you there. But that was the past, when Chuck was clearly a different person. He had every reason to not want Jimmy on board at that time.
My response was more to the thought that Chuck would intentionally dick him over again here and now. We can all probably presume something rotten happens with this lawsuit, but I don't see any reason chuck would purposely and intentionally hurt Jimmy these days.

quote:Exactly. And this Sandpiper case is going to be it. It is kind of bittersweet. I hate to see Jimmy f'd over like that, but in his defeat/betrayal the birth of Saul happens....and I'm excited about that part.

Yep
All signs point towards Jimmy getting fricked on this deal and it driving him over the edge.

Once they used Chuck's code I knew where this would lead.
