I don't understand why people even eat turkey burgers. Does anyone actually like them as much as ground beef?

Because my wife doesn't eat red meat and I like burgers

That makes sense but most people eat them because they think they are healthier/less fattening.

It makes you look pretty silly questioning why someone would make a burger with turkey.

So me asking for vegetarian recipes discredits me from commenting on any conversation about meat?

You got defensive in your thread asking about those recipes when I questioned why bother making them. Now here you are doing the exact same thing. I just find your hypocrisy amusing.

Granted, it's slightly less funny now that I've had to explain the whole thing out.

I actually made turkey meat loaf last week. The recipe I used called for mincing up mushrooms and sautéing them

It actually was the ingredient that kept the meat very moist

Also ground turkey is much more likely to make you sick than ground beef.

quote:

Consumer Reports' researchers tested 257 kinds of raw ground turkey meat and patties, many of which came from major retailers and were store brands. The samples were tested for the following contaminants: enterococcus, Escherichia coli (E. coli), staphylococcus aureus, salmonella, and campylobacter. All five bacteria can cause illness and be fatal in some cases.

quote:

Ninety percent of the samples Consumer Reports tested had at least one of the five bacteria. Sixty-nine percent of the products had enterococcus, which can cause an infection of the digestive or urinary tract, and 60 percent had E. coli, a major cause of severe foodborne illness in the United States. Both bugs are associated with fecal contamination, Consumer Reports pointed out.
