10 ranked teams in the SEC? Holy tap dancing Christ.

I was thinking the same thing. 6 of the top 12 teams are in the SEC. That's pretty ridiculous.

SEC has always been strong in softball. AU, though appear to be the new kids in town. Some have sensed improvement in that program with the coach they just got.

False. It's really only been the last 5 years. The first SEC national champion ever was Alabama in 2012. The only other one is Florida last year. Before the last 5 years the SEC was the equivalent to the current state of the B1G in football.

Yea, until recently the pac-12 pretty much ran softball. Texas was really good when they had Cat Osterman and Tennessee was really good when they had Monica Abbott. I still don't think either won a WS though.

Yeah, the first time a team from east of the Mississippi won a title was when Michigan won it in 2005. Most definitely dominated by the Pac.

The SEC hasn't played softball near as long as the PAC or even teams like Louisiana Lafayette.

As far as I can tell the SEC started doing softball in 1997.

If any SEC schools participated before that (I don't think any did) it was in another conference like Alabama and Tennessee being current members of the Big 12 for one of their sports.

Alabama is leaving Conference USA to join the Big 12 while Kentucky and South Carolina are remaining in Conference USA as affiliate members.

Oklahoma won it between Bama and Florida. So the pac10 is in a slump.

No problem, thanks for the very informative post.

I did have to go to LSU's official athletics website to check the final score for Saturday. I watched every pitch and didn't remember scoring 12.

Looks like this one has been locked or anchored. You may want to start it again without the caps.

Don't forget that I must also say 5 acts of contrition (sp) and 2 rosaries.....I had to do that in Florida for everything I yelled at the Florida coach last weekend. Glad for Google that I could find a church in Gainesville before the game. Loved seeing faces in church there when I had an LSU coaches polo on... only clean clothes I had left! ha
