Went to Home Depot earlier, and came home with one extra nail. I plugged the hole, but it is right on the edge of new tires/not new tires. I routinely drive 95 on the interstate and I don't want to die, so should I just spring for all new tires?

They are E load BFG ATs and have probably 10k left on them

Here is where the plug is

Horrible place for a tire injury. Scrap it.

A pro wouldn't plug that, I wouldn't risk it

You need a new Tire anyway because this tire looks bad. I would not trust this tire on a wet road!

Keep a check on it and see if it holds air. If it held good, I'd run it on the rear.

I think you are gonna have a hard time getting anyone to patch that because it is so close to the sidewall...

ETA: can you swap it out with the spare so you don't have to buy a new one?...

Bad place for a nail. I'd get new rubbers

Most places will not patch when it is in the bend as the patch will tend to slide a little when the tire flexes every revolution.

If you drive fast, get a new tire--really.

I have no problem with someone who does 95 if the road is dry and straight in light and fast-moving traffic. That said, if you're going to do that make sure your tires are good.

Just ran around New Orleans/Metairie on the interstate going 80, and it is keeping pressure. No soap bubbles either. It is on the rear.

I think I might roll with it until I can get the new tires ordered. I don't think it is wise to be running that fast and risk a blowout. Gotta drive the causeway tomorrow too

fricking sucks having to order $1000 worth of tires for one God damn nail

Don't think anyone will repair that. That plug probably won't hold that long before pressure on sidewall blows it out.

I had a set last 65k on a Tacoma, 15k on an F150, and then another 3k on an old F100 before someone slashed the tires.

I've got a 2500hd, so they aren't gonna last forever, but they will last another 10k

Don't look at whether it's keeping air. Check the sidewall regularly. If you see any bumps or lumps starting to develop, scrap immediately.

Though with your speeds, I wouldn't frick with it and just get a new tire.
