There's been previous rumors of the Saints being very interested in him. Looks like they definitely are very interested.

Ideal #31 pick. Would be fundamentally nice if we got either an edge backer at 13 or Shelton then Anthony at 31.

I think Anthony would be there at 44 IMO. There are several ILBs that are valued more than Anthony.

I think McKinney, Kendricks and Perryman are all rated higher and will go before him.

If we are gonna pick a linebacker from Clemson, that's not the one I want.

He's stronger and more athletic than Mckinney. Better size vs Perryman. I like him as a prospect.

I only want Anthony if his motor never stops, if his intangibles are off the charts, if he has deceptive speed, if he has a big heart, if he plays the game the way it's supposed to be played, if he shows up for work everyday, and if he brings his lunch bucket with him.

Think about this: TPOS, Ellerbe, Anthony, and lets say a Bud Dupree.... mixed with Parys and Humber and Hawthorne etc .... maybe not the worst of makings of a group

I really only want projects on the defensive side when we draft.

People put entirely too much value into mock drafts & so called "expert" analysis that they don't take the time to do some work for themselves. Year after year these mocks & analyst are proven wrong.

Anthony is damn good linebacker whose measurables are off the charts.

quote:

Anthony recorded a 4.56 forty, 1.57 10 yard split, 37" vertical, 10'2" broad jump, 7.07 3-cone and 4.03 20 yard short shuttle. That is outstanding.("much quicker than the five-year combine average for corners," per Muench).

LINK

His forty time is blazing for a linebacker & his shuttle time is better than most corners. This guy is fast in a straight line, laterally & can change directions like a cat. This is elite athletic ability for an inside linebacker. If anybody really bothered to look at Anthony's highlights, you can see that he is good against the run but can cover downfield as well.
He isn't just some freak athlete who didn't produce either.

quote:

One of the team’s most athletic defensive players ... had 330 tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three interceptions for eight yards, 18 quarterback pressures, 13 pass breakups, five caused fumbles and one recovered fumble in 2,264 snaps over 52 games (35 starts) in his career

Does anyone know where Clemson finished the 2014 season ranked defensively?

quote:

RANK TEAM GP PLAY YARDS AVG TD YPG
1. Clemson 13 841 3390 4.03 23 260.8
2. Penn St. 13 849 3623 4.27 24 278.7
3. Stanford 13 873 3671 4.21 24 282.4
4. Wisconsin 14 839 4117 4.91 34 294.1
5. UCF 13 869 3881 4.47 27 298.5
6. Louisville 13 845 4011 4.75 26 308.5
7. Michigan 12 783 3736 4.77 27 311.3
8. Michigan St. 13 807 4105 5.09 35 315.8
9. LSU 13 845 4119 4.87 26 316.8
10. Arkansas 13 821 4204 5.12 30 323.4

LINK

Clemson's defense wasn't just the Vic Beasley show & 10 other guys. At MLB, Anthony was a main piece to the puzzle there. This guy has top 15 talent & potential but is being pegged as a late 1st/early 2nd round player. Getting him at 31 or 44 would actually be a steal.

This is reminiscent of the Pitt Hugh Green/ Ricky Jackson quandary of yesteryear.

We all know how that turned out.

Can lightning strike twice?

I for one sure hope so.

That's a really good comparison.
