So you think LSU is a poor FT shooting team

There have been countless comments on what a poor FT shooting team LSU is this has been going on all season, they should spend more time shooting free throws, and on an on. Here are the average free throws made per game vs attempts and FT percentage for the top six players. Seems the criticism is misplaced. Yes situationally they have missed some crucial free throws. But, they won 22 games this year and in several had to hit big free throws at the end of the game. On average they would have hit at least 4 of those last 6 attempts last night, just was not meant to be.

54% in a game is terrible
and posting these is not helping your case, at all.
and being situationally bad at free throws does warrant being called bad at free throws.

Doesn't matter what stats you post. Last night they were a poor free throw shooting team when it mattered the most.

and vs Auburn in the SEC tourney
idc what the stats are, if you can't hit free throws in pressure situations, you are bad at free throws.

Conversely, if we shot 20% for the season, but every single make sealed a victory, I'd consider us a good free throw shooting team.

Fine ... LSU is a good FT shooting team in non-pressure situations. Otherwise, they are poor. Happy?

We are 204th in FT%. There are 203 teams that shoot free throws better than we do.

Instead of cherry picking two losses why not look at the 22 wins. Don't you think they hit clutch free throws in those games.
The averages fro the season encompass all kinds of situations . They may have shot extremely poorly over a few minutes last night, but that does not constitute being a bad free throw shooting team. Last night was an aberration just like it would have been if say they had hit 9 of 10.

This was a talented team but a team that got into a number of close games and lost a lot of those. The team lacked that one guard who could take the ball at the end of the game, under pressure, stay calm and make a high percentage of his free throws. The team had guards with above average ability, but they were for the most part, inconsistent. The team did about as well as could be expected considering all things. I don't see any issue with trying or lack of heart or effort. Sometimes you just lack that one piece that you need.

I hope your other 7,000 posts were better researched than this one.

is this thread a joke or something?

Missing six in a row was the aberration. Missing 1/2 and front ends of 1-1 is what is constant.

Get it right! We are tied for 184th
NC State is actually worse than us.

How can it fricking be a joke The % is what it is. They missed free throw at the end last night, but over the course of a season in all types of situations they have all but one starter averaged over 70% and the other was at 66%. They won 22 games so they had to hit some crucial ones in some games.

How any D-1 guard can shoot free throws this poorly is beyond me.
Any college level guard for that matter.
