How can this thread be answered when no one knows what players will compose the roster?

true, but if my life were at risk and I was forced to bet on which way it would go, I'd take the under and feel pretty good. There are some that continue to downplay the extremely poor coaching by JJ and the poor fundamentals by most of the team (which is a reflection of the poor coaching). Even by putting X's and O's aside, how can the guy not call timeouts when the other team starts making a huge run. Time after time he would not do so, and it cost us big-time. The truly elite coaches will do whatever it takes to interrupt a run by the other team...even if it means calling consecutive timeouts....not Jones.

Depends on our OOC schedule but I say 26-27 wins if both mickey and martin comes back.

Need to see who returns and what the final recruiting class looks like first.

This all depends on Jordan Mickey and Jarrell Martin.

Scenario #1: both guys return to LSU and Craig Victor becomes eligible. I can see us going 26-5 in the regular season and advancing to the Sweet 16.

Scenario #2; Martin leaves and Mickey returns. I think we'd go 23-8 IF Ben Simmons adapts and contributes majorly by SEC season. We might well get to the Sweet 16 in this scenario as well.

Scenario #3; both the M&M guys leave which, imo, is the most likely scenario. Our inside presence will be limited to what Simmons and Victor can do and we'll need to rely on our guards to carry the team. I think 21-10 in this scenario and another quick visit to the NCAA Ty, maybe win one game if the matchup is good for us.

LSU basketball wins 30 games next year by Minnesota TigahO/U 30?

It's a good thing for expectations to be better, but I think 30 wins is tough for even the most ardent Positigers to imagine.

If Ben Simmons is the transcendent talent most expect him to be it will be another improvement, and based on who comes back we'll have a good mix of veteran experienced players and young dynamic talent.

But I think it's still a fair question to ask if we can expect the staff to get the most out of that mix.

I think most would agree years two and 3 CJJ probably left some chicken on the bone in that regard.

When you consider the fact that a 22 win team lost 10 games by single digits, that's not so far-fetched. At least for next season, Simmons will bring a big-time "closer" mentality to the team, regardless of who returns. He wants the ball in every tight situation and has the moxy and confidence that he will delivery the goods, every single time. That kind of leadership, along with the tough and determined play of guys like Hornsby and TQ should lend itself to putting away every team they're favored over, unlike this past season. If everyone who can return does return, LSU will be ranked top ten pre-season and likely stay there. Simmons is that good. He will make everyone's play better.

I hope so Randy, and I think so as well. And from all I hear about him he is a selfless, and self motivated player.

I think a big issue with the extreme inconsistency in level of play this year has a lot to do with the inability of the players to be motivated to play game in and game out.

I don't think that will be an issue with Simmons and hopefully as what we expect to be our best player, it is contagious.

i just hope they can win a game in the tournament. hopefully losing in that manner teaches them what it takes to win on that stage.

motivation, better fundamentals and a commitment to staying with guys like elbert and epps and bridge to the point where they can provide a few minutes a game. mickey played 38 minutes after being extremely limited the previous two weeks, no wonder he was gassed at the end.

simmons is a guy who can get his own in a slowed down halfcourt game and we needed that. martin can but doesn't have that extra gear yet.

Man, I really think Epps earned some more playing time with a couple of good outings in very limited minutes late in the year. Disappointed he did not get more chances to build on that.

What will be interesting to see is depending on what Mickey/Martin decide, the numbers game with the scholarships and who might have to find somewhere else to play.
