How many of you were good Catholics and visited a St. Joseph's altar today?

I went, but didn't eat. I'm not interested in eating school cafeteria spaghetti and "meat" sauce. The "Italian Salad" that people were munching on brought back some bad memories. Got me a lucky bean, though.

Is it only Italians that do this? I'm Catholic and have never been to one.

I don't even think my parish had one. They didn't say anything in the bulletin or the announcements.

I'm not Italian and I go every year. Everyone goes to it. The one I went to was packed. It's free food and an excuse to catch up with Church folks.

Had one at work, went to Brother Martin's as well.

For those asking, it's a long Sicilian tradition that was brought to the American Church in the 19th Century with the waves of Sicilian immigrants.

With the assimilation of Sicilians into American society over the last 100 years, it's become a common thing in parishes where in the early days, most altars were in private homes.
