I thought it was really good, but I like hefeweizen and other wheat styles. I sampled about 12 so, not sure if that helped or hurt my sampling.

Was the Dinner Lab crew putting out some great stuff?

How about a shout out to a few distinguished board members!

As an avid NOLA drinker, Hog Tied was an OT beer baller 6/10. I had one, but went right back to Rebirth cans.

I really liked the Hog Tied but I am a fan of that type of beer, especially when I was baking in the sun.
Seems like a lot of the alcohol booths ran out of drinks, or at least the ones by the stage. But other than that it was an incredible event. I was definitely hungover after the Manny Fresh party Friday then started early again on Saturday. I didn't leave the house yesterday at all.

I need to go one year. How does it work? Do you pay at the entrance?

We can sneak you in in a smoker.

I wonder if they are afraid of Friday night becoming more and more "private party only" events. If so, then there's no point in the general public attending other than drinking and the bands. And if it is only that, then the entrance fee for Friday should not be the same as Saturday.

I think more teams will have food on Friday next year. There were about 30-40 teams selling Friday night, but yes team bbq sampling is and will always be on Saturday. Friday has always been more about partying.

We price the gate on the bands, not really on the teams. If anyone can find a place where someone can see 6 bands of that caliber for $20 bucks, please let me know.

There was some great music on Friday, especially for $20. I had no problem paying that.

And there was plenty of food options as well. Hell, one of the teams had $20 AYCE crawfish and beer.

I didn't have any problems with the food choices Friday night. More would have been nice but I can understand the teams that want to focus on Saturday and not sell another dish on Friday. I get that.

The bands at the NOLA stage were great. You don't need to invite back that first female group on the Regions stage.

French Quarter Fest

But by no means do I think Hogs is a bad deal. It's a wonderful event and you guys did a great job this year. There was a ton more food this Friday compared to last year's Friday. You pretty much needed to know someone last year. This year Mannie Fresh was your homeboy.

Since this was my first year, I didn't have anything to compare it to. It was just something I wondered if other teams would hop on the same idea of having the private party thing on Friday. Good to know it's the opposite.

I think the first of those three days is when the Gala is.

Not currently. Its a lot to ask teams to give up two or three days to be out there cooking, plus we need time to break it all down and such.

For foreseeable future it will be Gala Dinner Thursday, Tailgate party Friday night, Main Event Saturday.
