Senior year of high school baseball....a foul ball was was hit past our dugout into the right field corner. I look at this little freshman kid, he looks at me, we both give each other the "I'll race you to it!" look, and bam, took off.
We're neck and neck as we approach the ball. He dives for it. I'm like wtf????? So I freakin broad jump over him trying to land past the ball and past him so I don't break an ankle by landing on him.
Hit the ground, roll, and pop up with my back to him. I'll never forget his voice when he said it. "Dude, oh my fricking God dude. Oh my fricking God!"
I turn to look at him and his arm and hand are split wide open. I literally looked inside his arm. Apparently my cleat caught him and ran down his arm. Oops.
