Honda and Nissan a close second. I've owned 4 different Toyota cars and a truck and they've never broke down.

not sure I agree...I have had girlfriends with both hondas and toyotas and every one of them required major repairs at some point around 100K miles...

I am not saying that they are any worse than domestic cars, but I am not convinced that they are any better either...

I would give anything to have my 1999 Tacoma TRD back now after trading it due to pregnancy. Tremendous vehicle. Carmax, in 2002 mind you, gave me 2800 less than my retail. I received profit for buying it.

Something doesn't add up. If your girlfriends were having major repairs on a toyota w 100k then they were not taking care of it. Just that simple. I've had three in a row and they all ran like a clock above 100k. Last one had 160k when I totalled it but it ran like brand new.

I've got 205K on my 4Runner and it runs like brand new. No major repairs, just normal maintenance and care.

Likewise, my dad ran a 2001 Ford F-150 to 270,000 miles and only recently demoted it to his secondary truck for hauling his boat when he's in town. He obviously has taken very good care of it. Much like any product, anecdotal evidence for vehicle reliability is completely worthless.

my point exactly...I am not saying that toyotas and hondas are not reliable, but I have seen nothing to convince me that they are quite as dependable as all of the hype would have you believe...

Only the old Volvos are reliable. New ones have issues. Ive had a few Hondas all run well over 170,000 with basically no issues.
