So when I press the home button on my Android, it goes to a search, not 'home'

I need to fix this, it's driving me nuts. I know one of the Google apps has to be behind this.
Phone : S5 active
Carrier :AT&T
OS : Lollipop
Home screen manager : Yahoo Aviate
Any help to is greatly appreciated.

With the phone on, remove the battery and hold the power button for a minute, put battery back in and turn on.

That's not going to fix this problem if an app has taken over the home button.
is it opening the browser or the built in Google search app?
Seems like other people are having this issue recently.

It is the most common bug on that device, and yes, a simple soft reset will fix it 9/10.

It "fixes" it for about 10 minutes for me... I don't count that as a fix.

Related Problem: Good morning, I included the issue I was having below. Every time I barely touch the home button, google search comes up. I followed the steps below to turn off the google cards but now it is still bringing up just the google search bar. Is it possible to turn this off as well? I’ve searched everywhere possible and have not found a solution. I never had this issue before the current update. I know normally, google only comes up when I hold the home button, but now any time I try to leave an app and simply press the home page it pops up with google. So very frustrating! Please any help would be great! Thanks, Chey.
Troubleshooting: Hello. This is one of the most common problems many users experienced after the most awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Disabling Google Voice will prevent it from popping up but then Google Search will take its place. Others resorted to factory reset, which entails a lot of work depending on the number of data you saved in your phone. But actually, there’s a very easy way to fix this problem–soft reset.
While the phone is on, remove the back panel and pull the battery out.
For a minute or two, press and hold the Power key.
Place the battery back in and turn on the phone.
The problem should be resolved by now.
Tell Google that then, works for about everyone else.
Also try disabling your exchange/activesync account and see if that resolves the issues as it did for many as well. If so, you'll need to DL Outlook and use it instead until they fix security issue with activesync.

Fixed this problem on my mom's S5 a few weeks ago by doing the same thing, based on a quick google search. Apparently the phone was being overly sensitive and treating a tap of the home button as a long press.

Yep.

I don't think anyone here would say the Galaxy S5 "just works."
