If you passed on AC Unity because of the well deserved criticism of its release state I recommend giving it a chance. I started playing it post patches on PS4 in late January and not experienced any glitches or bugs. The only issue I had was getting Arno into windows was sometime not so smooth. The other control changes were great imo.

I've played AC 1-3 and watched a good bit of the other games as it is my SO's favorite series and frankly I thought I was done with AC. The sailing, ship combat, island hoping aspects of 3 and Black Flag did not interest me at all. I always hoped for an AC game that actually focused on stealth assassinations and for the most part that is what AC Unity delivers. It is a smaller and more focused game than the previous entries and I prefer it that way. Its pretty cheap right now too on Amazon

I got it on launch, waited a few weeks for a patch or two, then finished the game. Really enjoyed it a lot.

Played it for a a day or so at launch, put it up for a few weeks, decided to try it again, no option to start over, uninstalled, and stopped buying Ubisoft.

Maybe a stupid question but did you delete your save files and re install it? There has to be way to start over. Maybe even try to make another PS4 profile?

I'm on PC, it tried all the tricks, stop cloud updating and delete the local save data, start the game, and it won't let you get to the main menu with having cloud sync enabled. As soon as you enable cloud sync it reloads where you were at.

Not having a "restart campaign" option is just plain stupidity or laziness, in the case both are an option.

The story is very lackluster, but gameplay-wise its a lot of fun. The assassination missions give you plenty of freedom in choosing how to complete them.

Have they changed the game any? Or is it still: Follow this person and listen to their conversation, then follow someone else and kill them.

This was the best thing any of the assassin creed games had done

I've got unity, and still need to play it, but I don't see it topping sailing around in an open world as a pirate

Assassin's Creed isn't going to morph into a pirate simulator. They threw last gen console owners a bone with AC Rogue being basically a re-skin of Black Flag, but the ship-based gameplay should just spin off into its own title.

Chances are, people who are only interested in playing AC for the ship combat, aren't really interested in playing AC.

I'd say that there were far fewer tailing missions or instant fail stealth. Most of the time, you start a mission on a rooftop and are given a number of side activities to complete which makes the main assassination easier in various ways depending on what actions you take.

Combat has been made more difficult, so it's not as easy to simply cheese your way through the non-forced stealth sections. You have to play the game at a slower pace, enemies out through stealth and taking advantage of your environment. Most of the time, if you're spotted, you can still fight your way out, but it's made more difficult.

You may want to just check out Rogue if you really dug that aspect of AC 3 and Blackflag. I did not hate it in AC 3. It was certainly well done it just did not interest me much. Unity is actually the AC game I was expecting ever since I saw previews of the first AC back in 07.

If rouge is sailing and fighting on ship I am in, but if it's the norm of follow then kill I am done with that. I don't like stealth.

Rogue is black flag set in New England. Graphics weren't very good imo, but it has one of the better stories in the series. Main story is kind of short though.
