I'm finding that I don't use the wizard as much cause he usually ends up aggro'ing things for some reason and get's murdered, but there are some spells I've totally overlooked that make them so much more useful.
This x2
In addition, you have position them just right or else 3/4 of their kit is useless.I have also murdered my front line several times.
I'm playing on hard and I'm not sure you could progress to far without at least 1 mage.
Other thoughts
Rogues seems kinda useless on hard. Stealth is either all or nothing.
Having 2 camp fires on hard is BS because fast traveling makes your guys sleepy before you even done anything.
I wished they used the Aurora engine like in Neverwinter nights rather than the Unity engine. The Aurora engine is prettier and has better camera controls.
I think they should of designed the game around a 4-5 person party. I'm Micro-manging like hell every fight.
I personally give it a 8.5/10.

I seem to remember plenty of reloads back when I played Baldur's Gate. I would get cocky, waltz in without positioning everyone and die.
I've read normal difficulty can be pretty tough.

Yeah, save early save often. I was thinking of making an all ranger party, 6 pets and 6 ranged with limited healing, then I discover ranger companions don't get pets.

As soon as I finish Divinity:Original Sin, I will be in this.

We'll see about that if I ever get there lol.
I have around 18 hours logged into the game..... 2 hours each on 6 different characters. Games like this I spend forever figuring out what I want to play as.
Finally found the guy I'm gonna stick with though.
A Mercenary Boreal Dwarf Druid from Old Vailia

Almost all RPGs, I spend about 20-30 hours learning the game, then I start my real character.

Which Keep? Our Stronghold or the one we invade and overthrow the ruler?

For my own ocd self, can you edit the title.
I haven't found a reason to dislike this game yet.

Oh I think I know what you're talking about, is it the fact that you spend all this money on upgrading the place and yet the bonuses aren't that great?

Nope, but you will find out soon

Still not sold on the game although I am leaning towards a purchase on Friday.

I am at ~25 hours and still not on my way to the 2nd major city.

You've been playing a week. Shouldn't you have 100 hours and 95% completion by now?
Posted on 4/1/15 at 11:55 am to TigerMyth36
There are several people I've seen/read on reddit that have completed the game...It baffles me how people can wait 2 years for a game then completely rush through it and no-life it to finish in the first week. But to each his own, some people like to do multiple runs. I do one complete run, taking my time. Then I'll usually up difficulty and try some different options.

I usually mess around a bit, sometimes up to 20 hours before I realize I made a mess with my first character, then I start the real game.
I tend to do every quest and uncover every little nook and cranny.
If monsters respawn, I tend to grind a bit to level up and make later areas a little easier if the areas don't scale with level.
I don't usually ramp difficulty to nightmare, but I did do it for Inquisition.

We've been working hard on fixing bugs and stabilizing the game for 32-bit users. The 1.02 patch will be released shortly – hopefully before the weekend.
As a token of our gratitude for your past and ongoing support, we wanted to share some exciting new things we have in store for Pillars of Eternity. These features are scheduled to appear in the 1.10 update, which is currently slated for early summer.
First off, the big one: We are introducing turn-based combat. There will be a toggle for this at the start of the game, just next to Expert and Trial of Iron. This feature is very much the work of Tim Cain, and it makes Pillars of Eternity play a lot like the RPG classic The Temple of Elemental Evil.
