Vic Beasley: Playing for Falcons would be 'dream come true'

"I grew up a Falcons fan, so that would be a dream come true," Beasley said on NFL Network's "Path to the Draft." "I haven't told them that. But wherever I end up I'll be happy, and I'll do my best for that team."

So, if you grew up a fan of a team it wouldn't be a dream of yours to play for that team? Your logic for not wanting him on the saints is fricking retarded.

Y'all need to calm down. I would take this kid in a heartbeat. Gonna be a beast in the NFL. Unfortunately he's gonna be a Falcon. They pick at 8.

But we'll be picking at 7 and both he and the falcons' dreams will be crushed. Mwahahahahahaha!

They say winning cures all but somehow I think the couple hundred grand paycheck in the locker after a game is really the cure.

Even though there's a lot of jest on this thread, I actually tend to think that I wouldn't want him on my team. So you draft him in the first and he performs outstanding for 5 years... where do you think he is going when he is a FA? ATL. Sure you can franchise him and keep him for a 6th, but he won't be signing any deals in order to be a FA in year 7. One way or another, he is going to his favorite team.

Now of course this may not be true, but based on his words you have to consider it

This, and after you've played in the NFL the logos on the helmet matters so much less than it did before. Most pros that I know make a bigger deal about college football than pro ball anyway.

Eh, not really. Every kid grows up with a favorite/hometown team, but you don't see it have any effect on their decision come FA.

How many of them express their desires pre draft to play for that team? That doesn't happen. Why? Because NFL teams want to see that players they draft will be committed to their organization and not have allegiances elsewhere. This is why you hear draft prospects say all the time that they don't care whom they play for. It's a dumb move by Beasley that may possibly effect a team's desire to draft him. While it probably won't, it's certainly more possible than if he would've kept his Filthy Falcon mouth shut

You're looking WAY too much into this. When the questions is "You grew up near Atlanta, how would you feel playing for them?", and the response is "I grew up a Falcons fan, so it would be a dream come true. But wherever I end up I'll be happy, and I'll do my best for that team," this is a non-story. I'm sure if you ask any kid the same question, most of them will answer the exact same way. Now, if they were to ask him his thoughts on the upcoming draft and he responded, "Well, I REALLY want to play for the Falcons," then that is a different story, but that isn't what happened here. To say that he is "going there one way or the other" is extremely premature.

Money and team situation will have A LOT more of a factor in his FA decision in 5-6 years than this. Like I said, you are looking too much into such a harmless comment.

I think you didn't read everything I wrote. I was adamant in expressing that I think it's a small matter that probably won't mean much. I'm just pointing out that teams MAY be turned off by that and he should've kept his Filthy Falcon mouth shut

While I agree with your filthy falcon mouth statement, I don't think a team would be turned off by this. Unless he was adamant and gave the impression that he won't play for any other team (which he didn't and wouldn't do), then its a non-issue. Hell, Odell Beckham said it would be awesome to play for the Saints.

I honestly don't think it's a big deal at all. He's a young guy doing an interview, that was around the area he grew up in. Once he'd get in an organization that compensates him well and he has professional success I highly doubt he's going to look to run off to his childhood team.
