Every parent should tell their children how to act when they encounter police. Most of their advice was good except for the one idiot who told his son to say "what is your badge #, I will be filming you with my cellphone" in an angry voice. Good luck pulling that one off as a kid, white or black.

No this is where good black parents explain to their children that if you don't respect police bad things will happen. It doesn't matter what color your skin is, if you give police an excuse that's all there is to it. See video of white man who didn't have such good parents to explain to him how dangerous police can be.

My dad had talked to me about dealing with police when I get pulled over too. Its a good conversation to have with a teenager of any race. I'm sure the theme applies across the board. No sudden movements, keep your hands visible at all times, and BE POLITE.

Pretty sure everybody who drives will get pulled over at some point...
I do see where they are coming from because honestly black people do often look "shadier" or "scarier" but if you act respectful and don't immediatley get hostile because you think the cop is being racist then I don't think most cops are out to get you just for being black. And if you want to change how people perceive blacks then you have to change the whole culture that is being projected to America. Because like it or not stereotypes exist and they exist for a reason. Just like a black person may get stereotyped as a thug, policemen get stereotyped as thugs too but that doesn't mean they're all thugs

I'm white and just about as clean cut as they come, and every time I get pulled over I turn on the cabin light, roll down the my window, and put my hands at 10 and 2 on the wheel.

"It's not if you get pulled over, it's when you get pulled over."... Why do black people think they're the only ones who are inevitably going to be stopped at some point? Pretty positive everyone, regardless of race, gender, etc., will be pulled over at least once in their lifetime.
We're white, and I have already had conversations with my child about how to behave & not when he gets stopped by an officer once he starts driving, or any time he is in the presence of officers, so that there is no misconception by the officer as to what he's doing, where his hands are, etc. ... I actually got pulled over recently at night while my son was with me, and made a mental checklist of things to do & not, like wait until the cop walked up to my window and asked for my information before reaching for it from the glove compartment so that he could clearly see what I was doing. I kept my hands on the steering wheel until he was beside me, as well.
These things should be taught to every kid, and are things everyone should do, regardless of race & gender, just as precautions, not because cops are all racist killers, but because mistakes in perception are sometimes made by them, particularly if it is dark & they're maybe "jittery" or "skittish." Not saying it should happen or that it happens often, but it does, occasionally, and the possibility always exists for something tragic to occur. ... By making it a race issue, these black parents are teaching their children that cops are all automatically racists, and teaching them to automatically fear & disrespect the police altogether.
As for black parents telling their children that white kids are the only ones who can call the police for help if they or others are in trouble or in danger is blatantly untrue and quite possibly harmful to their own children. I can't imagine how a young black child must feel hearing that from their own parents, nor can I imagine a parent willfully hurting & frightening their children like that, not to mention possibly putting them in danger themselves by making them afraid to call police or 911 if they ever truly need them, all for absolutely no reason except their own prejudice. Pretty pathetic. That type of thing doesn't help with "race relations," and certainly does their own children no good whatsoever.

If we're trying to play victim here, I got pulled over 2 months ago and as the cop is walking up to my door he's got his hand on his gun. The persecution of whites in a border town!!!!!
