Has anyone been to Mount Magazine? I am taking my family for Easter, and I am wondering if anyone has any helpful tips or suggestions. We are staying in a cabin at Mount Magazine State Park. Any do's or do not's?

Unless you're a Baptist preacher, don't venture to Branson

Check out Mt. Nebo as well. It's part of the Tri-peaks area (Magazine, Nebo and Petit Jean). Nebo has a nice park on top with tame deer, several hiking trails and a waterfall. Keep track of your kids on the trails. Some of the bluffs have steep drop offs.

Do all three. I camped on Nebo and checked them out. It's beautiful.

I have been to Magazine and stayed at the lodge many times. Really beautiful area but not much to do other than visit wineries a few miles down the road. Honestly I could just go there and hike and relax for a weekend and be good.

Stayed in a cabin there a few years ago. It was pretty nice, with some decent hiking trails in the area. We did some geocaching out in the woods.

Deer wander all around like cows in India, so drive carefully. Our waitress in the lodge restaurant (it was okay) said she had hit several.

Bring your groceries and supplies if you plan to cook. There is a convenience store a few miles down the road (I think they sold beer), but any other store was a long distance.

The pots/pans we had in our cabin were cheap and ragged out. The teflon in the skillets was scratched to hell, and they did not have any replacements. May want to bring a decent pot or skillet. The BBQ grill outside was the typical heavy duty state-park style grill that looks like it is made from recycled jailhouse bars.

They purportedly had internet access, but I recall having some issues with actually using it. Can't recall exactly what happened. Don't see it listed on their site now.

The hot tub on the porch, with that view, is tough to beat.

Thanks
Didn't realize that you and the op were talking about the same cabin, but I guess choices are limited
