I was there too. The most fun city I have ever been to. I'd move there in a heartbeat if it had the weather the south has.

Chicago is a 100% absolute shite show on St Pats. City wide. That video didn't exactly represent the atmosphere

It is. The actual parade is laughably bad but the city is a great one and there was a lot going on. Great time.

We knocked it out of the park food wise too, had a great time.

If you could move it south, the city itself would have 10 million residents. Best summer city in the country, and its not even close (youtube "Chicago Play Pen" for one example why).

Weather was great this past weekend, too

I walked out of some bar in River North having lost time inside, thinking it was 9 or 10 PM at night. It was 4:30 in the afternoon. That was some bright sunshine.

My wife walked in the Chicago parade on Saturday, said it was laughably small compared to NYC parade, like very short route.

All the small towns around here are shite shows when they have their parades leading up to the actual day, Hoboken was especially shitty in the past before they cancelled the parade due to the number of drunks coming to town the day if the parade

A girl I work with used to work in NYC, and she said she was so disappointed when she went out there for St. Pats. She was expecting Chicago level atmosphere. My boss used to live in Hoboken and said that place was always crazy the weekend before St. Pats.

I got married on March 15 7 years ago, a lot of my friends from New Orleans stayed a few extra days for the NYC parade. We went into the city with them and when we told them that it's just bagpipers cops and firemen and they don't throw anything from the floats, they all voted to just go into a pub and drink for the day. That was a very fun day but sucked the next day of the flight to the honeymoon

Similar to my experience this weekend. Was with a few Tulane students and we were waiting to see the parade start (none of us had ever seen it and didn't know what to expect). Once we saw how small it was we all turned around and got a ride to Wrigleyville to continue the heavy drinking.

The big one is/used to be the South Side Irish Parade, but in recent years it got cancelled because it was out of control. They just recently brought it back under very strict supervision and no leniency on alcohol. The south side parade is 1.5 miles. The NYC parade is a bit longer at 1.75.
