Ryanair plans to offer flights between the US and Europe, for as low as $15 each way.

The low-cost European airline said that flights would be available between 14 European cities and 14 American cities.

“European consumers want lower-cost travel to the USA and the same for Americans coming to Europe. We see it as a logical development in the European market,” the airline said in a statement.

If the plan succeeds, if would secure Ryanair's reputation of the lowest-cost international airline.

However, it could take as long as half a decade for the first transatlantic flight to lift-off.

First, Ryanair needs to secure an aircraft that can manage the long trip. The company said that they are already in talks with manufacturers about purchasing such a carrier.

In order for this venture to succeed, Ryanair needs to attract both economical travellers, and a higher-paying business clientele.

Earlier this month, the airline announced that it was hoping to establish itself as a digital innovator.

No way I would ever get on a plane that could make a 15 dollar flight profitable.

See, but we are talking $30 roundtrip. Seems a little steep when you factor that in

Yep. I flew Ryanair across all of Europe. Cheap as could be, but you absolutely get what you pay for. Most of the flight attendants are Eastern Europeans who work 18 hour shifts. Here is a Ryanair joke

Bloke was sitting on a barstool, drinking a pint, at Heathrow airport, when a really beautiful woman sat down next to him. Bloke thought to himself, "Wow, she's so gorgeous, she must be a flight attendant, but which airline does she work for?"

Being a bit of a know-all and hoping to pick her up, he leaned towards her and uttered the Delta slogan, "Love to fly and it shows?"

She gave him a blank, confused stare, and bloke immediately thought to himself, "Damn, she doesn't work for Delta".

A moment later, another slogan popped into his head. He leaned towards her again, "Something special in the air?"

She gave him the same confused look.

He mentally kicked himself and scratched Singapore Airlines off the list.Next he tried the Thai Airways slogan, "Smooth as silk".

This time the woman turned on him, "What the frick do you want?"

Bloke smiled, and said, "Ah, Ryanair!"

So I guess their plan is to have several luxurious seats/cabins in the $5000-$15,000 price range that wil subsidize the cheap seats?

When I flew Ryanair in Europe they charged to read an inflight magazine, and they charged for even water. They were trying to charge to use the restroom at the time but the lawmakers did not allow it
