LSU & N.C. State are inextricably linked

LSU and North Carolina State will meet for the first time Thursday night. However , they have been inextricably linked over the years. LSU has clearly gotten the better of the partnership.
In 1966 LSU was able to sway Press Maravich into leaving the Wolfpack for Tigertown. While his six year stint was not a statistical success he did bring his son Pistol Peter Maravich, college basketball 's all time leading scorer
A few seasons later Nelson Isley transferred to LSU from N. C. State and played his senior season where he was selected to the ALL SEC team.
Then in 1979 N. C. State transfer Al Green was an integral part of an LSU team which won the first SEC title by LSU in 25 seasons. He was also selected to the all SEC team.
LSU finally returned the favor when Ralston Turner left the Tigers for the Wolfpack where he has been a key player for the last two seasons.
Now if only Russell Wilson had gotten the memo in 2011.

in 2011 DollaChoppa spurned attempts from LSU professors to retain his services as a graduate student in order to pursue a higher degree at NC State.

LSU gets Pistol Pete. NC State gets Ralston Turner.
Seems like a fair enough trade to me.

Not basketball...but LSU hired Bo Rein from NC State in 1980 to coach football (for those who don't know, Rein died in a plane crash while on a recruiting trip just days into his stint at LSU)

Interesting...I knew I had heard the story of Bo Rein and subconsciously had been hearing the name Bo Ryan (Wisconsin mens bb coach) since they are really good this season and was confused where I had heard the name before. Glad this got cleared up for me

Well it's a good thing you said inextricably. Cuz just saying they were linked would have clearly used far too few syllables than the mundane trivia deserved.

I wanted to challenge your level of erudition.
