I think this offseason put the ball in Brees' court next year. He either takes a pay cut or we trade him like an albino Trex.

Will be a retire a Saint? More than likely, yes. Will he play for another team before he retires on a 1-day contract from the Saints? Also a possibility. Drew wants to play. End of story. If the Saints want to give up on him, he will find a team that will give him a chance. But if that happens, he will undoubtedly follow the same road as Fujita and Duece and sign a 1-day to retire a Saint.

The only way Brees retires a Saints is if he extends next year at half the money he makes now. The negotiations will start early this year in order to give the team a good idea where this is going. If he doesn't reduce his salary, he will be traded. He will still have decent value and the team won't let him walk without getting something in return.

If we jump up to pick one of the two top QBs in this year's draft, you'll have your answer.

I wish he could last another 10 years like he talked about, all with the Saints. After this offseason I'm not sure that he will be with us after next year. I hope I'm wrong tho

No, Payton is trying to clean the "bad element" out of the locker room.

Joe Montana retired as a 49er after being traded to the Chiefs for two seasons. I could see Brees doing the same thing.

If he struggles this year or plays like how he did last year, and doesn't take a paycut we can just release him which will save us around 20 million in cap space. Have to think Mickey and Sean have that in their mind.

I think that the team's roster problems make anything possible.

I don't think anybody predicted the Jimmy Graham trade happening this off-season.

No.

The Saints never hang on to their great players- all retired someplace else.

See:

Archie Manning, Rickey Jackson, Dalton Hilliard, Pat Swilling, Sam Mills, Morten Andersen, Stan Brock, Willie Roaf, Joe Horn, and everyone else.

Archie Manning got traded........

and So did Peyton M. at around the same age and salary. If that next franchise qb is there in the draft it could happen.

I think if he was being traded, this is the only offseason when it would make sense.
