Downtown BR Traffic - Nicholson - now a two-way street

Can someone explain why they did this? They just created traffic where none existed. Just when you think the great traffic minds of Baton Rouge can't frick up any worse, they do this shite.

They are going to be shutting down the road near the 13th gate. Serious issues with the infrastructure.

So you had continuous flow from downtown to LSU via Highland and Nicholson?

Get with DOTD if you think of a better way to fix this

I thought it was fine the way it was.

This is going to work better. If you can't see that, you don't really have any chance of understanding.

Ok.
Considering the traffic I sat in this morning where none previously existed, you're probably right. This will work a lot better.

Could just stay out of that area and find an alternate route until the work is completed.

Not really, with the location of the River Center.

Explain.
Traffic is going to be worse trying to get to the River Center. All northbound traffic on Nicholson is now condensed to one lane.

What a terrific sample size.

There's now and entrance to the garage from Highland as well.

DOTD did the work over the previous 6 months at the request of the city. Look left as you go past pasttimes, the city is doing contruction down there and will be spilling over soon.

I would at least give it time for people to adapt.

That entrance has been there for as long as I can remember.

I've seen it. What are they doing there?

You mean St. Ferdinand?

Something to do with the water. I usually head down there for lunch and was STS with some of the workers. Said it took months to get DOTD to do their part, now what should have been a simple fix is taking quite a while.
If I was a betting man, water leak left unchecked eroded further back thAn they would like. That would put more pressure on the line and crack it further.

Is that road shut down as of now? That's the route I take to get home from work.
