How does that relate to the pitch count, if at all? Does throwing to first a lot cause any arm fatigue, or is it not relevant?

I've always wondered this as well. I tend to think it's easier on your arm than a pitch to the plate but I'm not sure.

Definitely not as much wear on the body.

I think it messes with the pitchers concentration. It is hard enough to throw a strike. Worrying about base runners has to effect his accuracy.

Keeps a speedy runner honest. Can disrupt flow and attention. Should be included in pitch count. Exertion on arm is higher because it's a throw where pitcher doesn't stride using legs, thus force is greater on shoulder on elbow..... if throw to first is with bad intentions.

They also throw about 40 pitches warming up and another 10 between each inning.
