He's only 31. People act like the guy is 55. He's never relied on speed to be productive and last year was really the only year o his career he had a drop problem. As long as Brees is here I see Colston around and continuing to be productive.

I concur. Given his size and style of play...I'd give him 3 more years with us.

colston takes as many hard hits as anybody in the game. I'm not sure how he's lasted this long

I want to be optimistic that he'll be a primary contributor but I'm not sure if you are building a team you can count on that

Gotta have some vets in there too, in order to build.

Slight nitpick here. There's a human lifetime and NFL lifetime.

An average NFL player's shelf life is 11-12 years in the most liberal of estimates and Colston is getting very close to that and he's already passed the most conservative estimate a couple years ago. He's a very old man in NFL years.

I don't have the graphic on me now but the average HB drops off after 29(pretty severely too from that point on). The average WR drops off after 35 or 36(more gradually) and his production from about 32 to 35 matches his production from about 24 to 27 or something close to that. 28 to 31 was the peak years I believe.

Everyone hears about HBs falling off at 30 amd thinks it applies to every position. That's the only position with that early and that steep of a drop off.

Colston will be fine.

And this will be his 10th year. Rice played 20, though that isn't the norm. And he played when they could still kill the receivers.

Found it. It had been a while so I was off with my numbers but the point stands.

Saints better be doing their homework this draft. They are going to have to find impact players in this class, ala 2006.

As far as WRs are concerned. Brees will have to go back to playing QB from 06-10. No more starring down Graham.

What part?

Looks like we'll be getting rid of Ingram's "big" contract just in time. And Spiller will still have value as a receiver like Sproles near the end of his contract.

I'd say the Saints nailed those two moves perfectly.

Gore is one of the rare HBs that is still putting up insane numbers for his age. Hats off to him.

By far my biggest issue with us having Graham. He was just too tempting of a target for Brees to turn away from. He missed so many check downs and guys open on the outside because Graham was option A.

And the pressure the last 2-3 years forced Brees into forcing it to him even more (along with taking more quick check downs to backs; just look at how many catches that shite show Cadet).

This year we get back to basics. No more throwing it up to Jimmy in double or triple coverage and praying he comes down with it.
