Agreed. It's certainly possible.

Bama did a good job of getting him the ball in a number of ways. It's not like he was going man up against the top db in press coverage all game. He is a skilled receiver, but he will have some growing up to do to compete against top dbs.

Next year wr class is much better at the top. In last year's class Cooper would have been a 3rd rounder maybe. Why jump to go get him? Take a wr with 2nd round pick. Plenty of value there for the position.

I agree with your entire post...except for this. He would most likely have gone around where Cooks got drafted - #20 i think it was. Even Kelvin Benjamin went 1st and he had a lot of question marks.

Maybe that was a bit much. He or Cooks would have gone there I agree, but he wasn't a top 3 guy or top 15 pick. Benjamin has unreal size so worth the risk. Cooper is crisp though, he's solid, but not a guy who will jump into a lead receiver role for a few years. He should have a nice career and fits into the modern day NFL offense where you have to really run smooth routes and be quick.

I like Strong from Zona State, Green Beckham, and Periman enough to wait out the wr position in the draft. One of them will be left with the Saints' 3rd pick.

I agree that waiting to draft a WR is the smart thing. Rounds 2-4 seem to be ideal. Last year the draft produced a lot of productive WR in those 3 rounds. Some dumbass team might actually take Cooper top 5.

Marques Colston
Brandin Cooks
Nick Toon
Brandon Coleman
Seantavius Jones
Jalen Saunders

We know what to expect from Colston and Cooks. The other 4 have potential, but that's it so far. We should definitely draft a WR at some point imo.

We go DL, OL with first two picks. Pick up WR later in draft.
Drew spreads the ball around so well we dont' need a #1 there.

Too bad Cooper is the exact opposite of this. He's a quiet guy who works his arse off. Sounds just like the type of player Payton wants.

The organization has been spending the last few days cutting & trading perceived lockerroom issues, why in the hell do you believe they would draft this head case?

I think DGB may end up being the sleeper pick of this draft for whoever gets him. His upside is tremendous. I really want him in black and gold if he can keep his head straight. I would take him at 13.

Colston, Cooks, DGB....

I think trading up in this draft is a bad idea. IMO there isn't much separating the top WR in this draft.
