I've read a lot of the posts and not much info on how good he is. I know he was injured all of last year essentially. So how does the board feel about it?

He was very good as a younger player in Ravens system. Also very good his first year with phins. Got a massive contract. Having lived down here for awhile I'd say Ireland is much better at evaluating defensive talent especially front 7 than he is the offensive side.

When we traded for Vilma in 08 he had only played in 6 games the year before and was thought to be broken down. He played all 16 games the next 3 years I believe for us

Just sayin

Yeah I don't think anyone is down on Ellerbe, we're just curious. The guy is like a black hole... there's not much on him out there.

Potential trade bait? I would assume with his restructure that he would appear more favorable to other teams now.

His best year was 2012 in Baltimore.

In 2013, his 1st year with the Dolphins, he graded out 50/55 LBers... Wouldn't say he was good at all in his 1st year with the Dolphins.

He finished as a top 20 ILB in 2012 with Baltimore.

He's been an up and down LB in his career. But I like getting him. He's a decent player overall, but in the right system and help up front he can be pretty good. And hes a 3 down LBer who is decent in pas coverage.

Was a throw in I think.
Had a great year in B'more a so so year in Miami then is out for a year.
Seems he's not 100% healthy yet so what can you make of him?
Could perhaps have a chance on this LB'er to be a starter.
Don't think he was the target in all this.

Ireland signed him to a $35 million dollar contract in Miami in 2013 and cut Karlos Dansby. There's your answer

The pick was definitely the main target. I'm sure they wanted someone like Dion Jordan, but they wouldn't include him. Ellerbe, I really don't know much about. Dolphin fans seem to not care for the guy, maybe he could be of use here though.

Could understand. He got paid a ton (works for us now) and did little to earn it.
