i stopped in there this morning and charged 4.38 on a debit card. Four hours later someone at the store charged a hundred dollars worth of gas on my account. I had the card in my wallet and was no where near there. I Guess I'm warning people to pay cash if they have to shop there.

I hope you called the police.

patton was right -- you can't trust frogs

It's been turned over to the financial crimes division of the east Baton Rouge sheriff's dept

Was it a completed charge and not a preauthorizarion?

Why wouldn't Livingston handle it?

That sucks dude. It sounds a little strange though that it would happen that fast. If it were a skimmer setup I wouldn't think they would have enough time to duplicate the card or anything that would let them use it that soon.
Did you hand the card to the clerk or use a terminal? It sounds like it would have to have been an employee at the store that did it in order to have that fast of a turnaround.
You said you did debit? if that's the case then it shouldn't be a pre auth charge. I have seen some small private owned stations use an even 100 authorization charge that falls off once it all settled but that doesn't seem applicable to your situation.
Talk to the bank and cancel the card asap. I would also talk to the store manager or owner to let them know what happened

I'm Sorry I ran it as a credit. None of it makes any sense to me. I Never bought any gas. I Signed for a four dollar and thirty-eight cent purchase. The Security cameras back that up. The sheriff deputy viewed them

Are you sure it wasn't some pre authorization or something?

There are two Frogs. The post is about the one on GWS road. Three miles from the store just across the parish.

there is nothing that I can come up with that makes any sense at all.

Yea then it definitely shouldn't have pre authorized for anything since you didn't use it at the pump.
At least for your sake the station seems to be cooperative and let you see the tapes. From my extensive watching of the first 48 and forensic files it seems like gas station security cameras are always not working lol

Seeing as how fast it happened, it probably wasn't from purchasing at frogs.
You order anything online lately? Went to any other stores the past couple days?

Maybe they thought you were opening a tab at their ice cream bar.

Frogs is a legit establishment. Im glad they are cooperating. It happening that fast does make it sound like an inside job, though.
