The Saints currently occupy the last compensatory slot in OverTheCap's projection, which would be 256th overall. (That would mean they would have the last pick in the draft, a player known as "Mr. Irrelevant.")

This is just a projection, it is NOT official. However, OverTheCap has a very good track record on this stuff.

FYI: You cannot trade compensatory picks, I don't think.

You are correct. Can not package comp picks in trades at all

If this is accurate, we will have 9 picks in this draft.

I do not think there is anyway we keep all of those. We will use them to move around. I predict we wind up with 6 players.

question for the draft gurus...

Is a player taken late in the draft, say Mr. irrelevant, more contractually bound to the team that drafts him than a UDFA picked up by the same team after the draft is over?

I assume so, but just wondering what the specific contractual difference is.

Getting drafted in the 7th round sucks. I'd rather be an UDFA and get to choose what team I play for.

Does losing Walker in FA make this more likely?
