This has got to be the most interesting off-season yet.

Saints having a fire sale

Eagles decided to trade everyone and everything as well

49ers deciding to lose everyone important

I personally think the craziest thing of all is the Lions letting Suh go.
How do you let a franchise DT who is such a game changer walk?

Tie, but the bigger impact (for me), obviously, is anything to do with the Saints.

Because they aren't hand cuffing the entire team to sign a d tackle to a $120 million contract. I respect them.

I also thought their offer was nowhere near what Miami was offering?

He had a respectable offer from Detroit on the table. Took more money from Miami. They got Nata for much cheaper. I think they made out like bandits.

he had the upper hand...he knew everybody would pay top dollar for him. That's what free agency is all about

He hated Detroit.

He was leaving no matter what.

I'm thinking the NFL is gonna increasingly become fluid rosters. The second contracts are increasingly not worth it IMO. You could probably work up a chart of what a player has to produce to earn his pay. I loved Jimmy Graham... a lot more before the new contract. We were getting $7-10mil of production for less than $1mil a year. Now he must have a monster year every year to earn his pay.

Agreed. Everything but QB, RE/Pass Rusher, CB, LT should be pretty fluid, with some obvious notable exceptions. Keep drafting well, search for veteran bargains, make cap smart deals with decent players, let high priced guys go that can be replaced.

Your definition of a fire sale is apparently very different from mine.

They should have hit him with a transition tag and at least gotten something for him walking out the door.

ETA - scratch that, did not know he would count $36M against cap if they used the transition tag
