I have to disagree with this part. Depending on how the contract is negotiated and at what point of the contract you are in; the teams technically are not always locked in. If the team were to cut him now, they would incur a $6.9M cap hit because of the prorated portion of his signing bonus. However, they would not have to pay him anything or buyout the contract. This is the opposite from just about every other contract that exists, there is almost always a buyout clause for both parties.
Now, if Kennan wanted to hold-out he would get fined. If he were to quit and walk away/retire; he would be penalized and would shave to pay back a portion of his signing bonus.

I hope they quietly throw him a bone.

And while many people like to point out that his contract is very favorable to the Saints bc the avg is $5.11M per year; he is smart enough to realize that his cap hit in 2016 & 2017 is over $7M.
Additionally, they have already approached him about a restructure back in 2014; so I am sure he is concerned that they may come at him to reduce his pay, restructure, or cut him if they are in a bind.

I do to. Hopefully they can talk to him and let him know that he has a place with the team and that they will work with him after the FA period calms down and they know how much room they have to work with. Then give him some incentive, to want to stay (not that he has many options) by offering to guarantee some of his contract; offering another restructure to give him more cash upfront while reducing future cap hits, etc.

You sign a contract you should fulfill it. Plain and simple.
Sure worked out well for Lofton, eh?

I will never understand these spoiled athletes. Why was the contract acceptable when it was originally offered and accepted, but now it's not?

The same exact reason that the contract was acceptable when the team offered it to PT, JG, Grubbs & Lofton, but now it's not.

Since he decided to throw a hissy fit, that's not even an option now. It will just look like the Saints gave in to demands.
If he wanted a raise, he sure picked the bitchiest way to go about it.
