It's been posted but I won't go on the attack. He is on a very team friendly contract. He wants his money guaranteed or to be traded/released. He has absolutely zero leverage, so it doesn't really matter what he wants. The end.

they could meet him in the middle and convert some salary to a bonus at some point maybe next year and give the option on the final year.

Like the article states though, he has no leverage other than holding out. I'd work a deal with him if i were teh saints. He was the only goood piece in a banged up and depleted secondary last year.

Dude deserves every penny on his contract. He was severely underpaid these past 2 seasons.

I get the guy's frustration after seeing the players that we have cut/traded over the last two offseasons, but Jesus... Dude's made millions of dollars playing football, and will for the next three year, whether it's here or another city.

"Me and my family need to know." He acts like he's going to be homeless if the Saints trade or cut him. There are hundreds of fringe Practice Squad players making a fraction of what he does, who don't know if they will be even getting a NFL paycheck come September. Keneen needs to chill. Maybe signing his former college teammater in Browner will settle him down a bit.

I disagree. If you are underpaid by your employer, watch your coworkers get fired, work through injury, and see other employees at a different company make more money than you while putting up similar numbers, you wouldn't ask your employer for a raise or some type of security? All the while, other companies would jump at the opportunity to have you?

I don't care if it's football and he's made millions

They would if they could, but this is what happens when you sign a contract and are locked in. Both sides took risks when this contract was signed. If a guy gets hurt, should a team be able to take back guaranteed money? No. If a guy does really well are they obligated to give more guaranteed money? No. It goes both ways.

I'm with you. I just get his frustration. The guy was the lone bright spot on an extremely aggravating defense.

Most players, I'd think they were just being whiny.

But Lewis actually has a very team friendly deal.

Well, it's pretty relative. You can't really compare a NFL career to the average 9-5 office worker for many reasons.

Sure it's fair to ask your employer. But, that's not what he did. He cried about it on social media. Regardless, I hope he gets what he wants and plays with the same fire as he has been doing for the last 2 years.

Well this is the life he lives. Of course he is much more fortunate to be playing a game for a living. But you can't blame the guy for asking for security when this is his career and he is in a team friendly deal. He has performed well above his contract, and even though he is locked in, I get where he is coming from. I mainly disagreed with you because I don't think he is whining in a way most players do

I didn't see all of the social media stuff. I saw an interview on the news with Sean Fazande (spelling?) and thought he made a good argument.

I hope he gets what he wants as well. We all know we need him.

Totally agree with you. I definitely understand his frustration, and have no problem if he wants his agent to bring that concern to Loomis. The problem that I have his displaying his frustration in social media, publicly asking for his contract to be guaranteed or to be traded, and threatening to hold out and become a problem. The whole "My family and I need to know" thing was a little too over dramatic for me. But like I said, I understand where he's coming from, but he could have gone about it a lot better.

The dude signed the dotted line it's his own fault. I think he's a great player and we got him at a bargain but that's not our fault. You sign a contract you should fulfill it. Plain and simple. If he didn't want this to happen he and his agent should've thought it out more. Brees did not complain about his first contract with the Saints and we got him for a bargain all those years.
