45 years old and starting my first college class on Monday. Haven't been in a college class in 25 years. The class is "Problem Solving and Programming Techniques". What do I need to bring to class on Monday? Gonna bring Laptop. Just standard stuff like notebook, pens?

it's sad that I waited this long to go back. I failed out my sophomore year at LA Tech in 1990 and never went back. At the time, I was too immature for college and just wasn't focused. I have always looked at this is a huge failure in my life. I am excited and scared at the same time.

I did the same thing. Failed out after 2 semesters at LSU in '89-'90, been working in retail for almost 25 years. Went back to school for an associates degree /Ptech. I graduate this May after 6 semesters in 2 years with a 3.95 gpa.

It's not a bachelor's, but I'm damned proud that I went back. Now.....if I can just get my plant job.....

Kudos to you for going back. It's awkward at first, but you'll be focused like never before.

Depends on what helps you retain information better. For me, it was physically jotting down notes. Good ole notebook and pen worked best for me. Recorder would be good in case you're worried about missing something while you get back into the groove. Best of luck

Think it would be alright to wear a gopro helmet?

I went back after almost 20 years away, and I found it to be far easier than the first time I tried. Having a job and bills helped me put the work into school work There will probably be other older students there, so you won't feel to outta place, but once a classmate remarked that I was older than their parents. That kinda bummed me out. All in all, if you treat it like a job, you will be fine.

If you bring a recorder make sure you ask permission before class starts. Don't want to get called out on the first day.

First off, the details are everything. Read what you wrote. Does that make sense?

I'm in my third year in college and I've not once brought a laptop to class. I feel like it would just distract me

So the first day will pretty much just be talking about what the class will be about?
