Waiting on an offer letter for a new job working out of Houston/Austin, TX. How's South Congress looking? What's the average rent over there? Or would it be better to live out of Round Rock or North Austin?

What do you want to know?

There are 150 ppl/day moving here.
Housing is getting pretty expensive.
SoCo looks nothing like it did 5-years ago.
Traffic sucks for those that do not know back roads.
Food is better than ever.
A lot of opportunities - especially in tech.

Depends on what you want. If you want to experience all the things Austin has to offer...live in Austin. If you like a cookie cutter life and chain restaurants and stores...live in RR or any other suburb.

Just this moment, an Austonite unicyclist who plays the ukelele in his post-impressionist hard-core blues indie techno folk band spilled his free trade soy gluten-free espresso cappicino o'lait in his tri-color braided beard that is used as a habitat for endangered migratory birds abused by Kony.

This is what I'm looking forward to. But this new job is Commercial Construction. I did apply for City Manager for Uber Cab but no luck.

Austin is cool and trendy, full of opportunity in certain fields, transplant heavy, and congested as frick. On balance, it's a good place.

Rent is pretty ridiculous these days. 5 years ago was much more affordable. That being said, I'd still hate to live in a suburb. Austin is where you want to be.
