This was the first game I ever watched on TV as a kid. We listened to night games, as a family, on WWL 870 am. I was about Jr. High for this game. It was on KNOE TV, Ch.8 in Monroe. Recording devices did not exist for the public. LSU or the Cotton Bowl might have it.

Great game, my Uncle watched the game. After the game, he went outside sat on the stoop, had a heart attack and fell over dead. He was 41 years old. I'd never seen my Mom cry so hard when she found out.

It was a great day to be a Tiger! A really good game and an upset win for LSU.

Listening to those games at night on the radio was quite the experience. Saturday nights were magic time and that time stood still for 3 hours.

I was 7 years old at the time. This is the first game I can recall watching on TV. I started going to the games on a regular basis the following year.

I was there. It's really the first specific game I can recall.
And yes, Joe LaBruzzo.

Pat Screen was the QB and had some injury issues but LSU used the Ground Game. I was in College at the time and watched it on Black and White TV.

Labruzzo running behind Dave McCormick all day. Arkansas had no answer. One of the great games. Great memory.

If anyone has the pennant from this game I'd be willing to pay good money!

Joe #22 running behind Big Dave over and over again, was right at Ark All American DT.

I think we broke Arkansas 22 game win streak.

Also think it denied them the NC, because No 1 had lost as well.

Great memory from this game. Esso (Exxon) was giving out tiger tails with a fill up (put a tiger in your tank campaign). Had an uncle that lived in AR mailed us a plastic hog head with an Esso Tiger tail hanging out of its mouth. Full of confidence that his mighty Hogs would win the game, Uncle Carl timed it so that the package arrived a day or so after the game. Needless to say, my dad spent the $$ for a long distant phone call and brought this up many times over the years when the Arkansas clan came to visit . . .
