Is this what everyone praises Loomis and his magic for - cutting player?

I don't follow the cap and all that off-season number crunching each year. I pay attention to the moves around the league, but I don't try to understand the cap.

I know many on here have praised Loomis and his "magic" over the last few years for always getting us under the cap when it comes down to crunch time. But is this what people are talking about?

"Well, we would like to keep this guy, but his contract is too big. Let's just cut him."

Look around the league. Everyone is cutting good players. League is designed for parity.

Who?
I have seen players not resigned, but who else are cutting multiple players?

*update* after Three second search Brett Keisel, Darelle revise. Lesean McCoy got traded because of salary number

Try doing a little Google search before rage posting. This is how the NFL works

Jeremy Maclin, Andre Johnson, Ndomukomg Suh, Frank Gore. The list is long every year.

First, to this point the Saints have cut just two players. Oh wow so many.

Second, did you actually check before acting like no one else is cutting more than one player? My guess is no. Do you know how many guys like PT have been cut? It's a good bit. You just don't hear about those guys.

With probably at least one more to come. On top of the others from last year too.

If espn's FA tracker is correct (which it likely isn't because they often miss some very low tier guys), there have been 64 players cut so far (an average of 2 per team).

And more cuts are coming today and tomorrow from all teams (not just us) as teams position themselves for FA.

So other teams didn't cut players last year, just us?

Last year we cut 3 guys who didn't even play because of injuries and two guys that played, one a starter (Harper who I still think we should've kept) and one guy that got just 14 catches. All but one worked out in our favor.

This year we cut a 30 year old back who has been dinged up (I disagree with the move but understand it) and one guy who hasn't live up to his contract.

The other guys we are cutting(minus Evans if he goes) are part time guys. Evans has been banged up and is over 30.

It's not like we are cutting Jordan or Stills or Cooks or Brees or Lewis or etc.

Of course you think he does.

The reason why Loomis his a cap genius is because he is able to work down a cap figure that is generally over and max out the team's ability to add players every year. No other team, to my knowledge, works the cap like he does. It makes is job much more complex every off season and he "makes it happen" every year.

It beats having a GM that sits on millions of dollars while his team is picking in the top ten.

I was posting before I saw that. Took a while for me to finish my novel though.
