In view of his retirement, is he a Hall of Famer?

He played 8 seasons. Was selected to the Pro Bowl 7 times and was first team All-Pro five times.

He has arguably been the best linebacker in the league during his tenure as well.

I think he should be a first ballot guy, but due to his relatively short career, who knows.

He was guaranteed in if he finished a long career. I think this sudden retirement blurs things up a bit.

Great player, but career was too short if he quits now.

Only a couple of guys have gotten into the hall with careers that short. Namely Gale Sayers and Jim Brown who only played 7-8 but were easily the best RBs the league had ever seen.

So getting 7 pro bowls and 5 all pros over 15 years is better than getting them over 8 years?

Butkus got in with 8 seasons.

Once again, many people consider Butkus the best ever. Willis isnt on the same level as Sayers, Butkus, Brown. Not a knock on him by any means.

I'd say yes. Anytime you're the best player at your position for 5+ years I think you're in. (Outside of special teams)
