I'll set the over/under at 4.5.

Here are our potential remaining trades or cuts:
Galette saves $11.75m(trade only)
Evans saves $6m, $7.5m if designated as a June 1st
Grubbs saves $3.6m, $6.6m if designated as a June 1st
Lofton saves $4.25m, $7.25m if designated as a June 1st
Hawthorne saves $2.9m, $4.5m if designated as a June 1st
Bush saves $1.95m
Watson saves $1.5m
White saves $1.54m

Everyone else is either too valuable, would lose us cap, or wouldn't be worth the measly savings (under $1m).

Added the June 1st designation numbers. We can only use that on two guys and we don't get the extra cap space until June 1st IIRC. Guys that don't have ot listed are on their last year, meaning no future money to keep from accelerating to this year.

We can restructure Galette's contract. He has a roster bonus that will be turned into a signing bonus if not traded(saves $10m). The only reason we are shopping him is because of his legal issue, not because of money.

I know. I think if a team wanted Galette, someone would have made a trade offer by now. My comment was about whether or not Galette was going to work with the team to restructure, or be an arse and keep the contract as is.

We've had actual chatter on 4 of the 8 (cutting Evans and Hawthorne and trading Galette and Lofton), while the other guys are all speculation based on circumstance.

I'll surprisingly take the under because we'll likely have to keep Galette and we may work out a last minute pay cut with Evans. I do think Lofton amd Hawthorne are both gone. The only other guy I see them cutting is White.

So I think the number will be 3.

They seem to really like him, so if they do decide to cut him it probably will not be until after the draft. And that is only if they sign some FAs and draft a CB they covet.

It likely won't be his choice to restructure. Most teams put language in that allows them to do conversion if they want as the player still gets the same amount of money at the same time.

@Brett yes we were shopping Galette so if you mean lolno in the sense we wouldn't want to you're wrong. Payton wants to move on from him because of his legal shite (and maybe other shite behind the scenes). Now if you mean lolno as in we'll have no takers, that has also been said.

THAT I did not know.

Have you ever seen/read one of these contracts before? I'm sure they are extremely long, but would be curious to see how these things are structured/worded.

I've seen bits of different ones. Don't really remember specifics to them but some parts are wordy (conduct sections usually are pretty specific). Usually filled with lawyer speak as usual.

Galette: trade is the only way, and like others have said I would think it would have already happened by now
Evans: Cut, between reduction in production and injuries the last 2 years, it's time, and Grubbs was rated a good bit higher than him according to Pro Football Focus (take that for it's worth)
Grubbs: stays and hopefully restructure or pay cut, as long as Evans leaves
Lofton: Would like to see a pay cut/restructure, he's a bit of a liability in coverage but he's still valuable
Hawthorne: cut
Bush: trade would be best, get an extra pick, we have Sunseri, Warren, Ball, and Samford all for depth and special teams so getting any pick for Bush and to get rid of his cap hit would be good imo
Watson: cut
White: cut

So cutting Evans, Hawthorne, Watson, & White should get us down under the cap.....So any restructuring and/or trades would be extra

So out of the 8 only one has been cut so far but recent rumors put Hawthorne and Bush near the axe. We know Evans was at one point but not one peep as of late.

Galette is safe for now but just because we had to restructure him doesn't mean we will keep him. I'll have to check the ramifications of trading him now or having him as a June 1st cut.

Last word on White was there is no word. And no word on Watson or Grubbs either. They are safe (for now).

Would Lofton count as the .5 if they sign him to vet min after he can clear a physical?

Or would White be the .5 if/when they cut him in preseason?

Welp just checked and there is no trading Galette (we'd lose about $10m) but if Payton really wants him gone we can save $1.35m by making him a June 1st cut.

We'd lose about $4m in cap the next year and have a $12.1m dead money figure for him though.

My hope has always been that we keep him though. Hopefully we have a talk with him and he straightens up.

What's the cutoff to know if we win? We are up to 3 players (2 from the list) and possibly 1-2 more from the list before TC.
