Biologist buddy says I should plant it this spring. Y'all ever planted any? He says deer will walk through corn and soybeans to get to it.

It's kinda pricey at about $100/50 lbs.

Sounds like a can't miss trial plot. Let us know how it works if you do it.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure it can't be planted in MS. Heard it was due to the fact that it can't be distinguished from marijuana via aerial patrols.

Harrison County Sheriff's Dept. destroyed some dude's field around here a few years back because they thought it was weed. From what I remember, the landowner spent a shitload of money planting it and didn't get reimbursed when it was pulled up.

Sheriff's dept. was like ehh, our bad bro, see you later.

fricking morons. Looks nothing like weed.

Maybe from the air, but not up close.

Planted some a couple of years ago. It didn't come up great but it did. Never got over about 6" high after the deer nibbled it to the stems. Unless you have a really big area to give it chance, it probably isn't worth the cost.

I may try this mixed with radish and sunflower this summer. All seem to put a good bit of nitrogen back in the soil.

I planted Throw & Grow Spring Crush which has Sunn Hemp in it with great results. I plan to plant it again towards the end of march along with some soybeans and clay peas.

My spring plots:

(6) acres Mean Bean Crush
(2) acres Throw & Grow Spring Crush
(4) acres Maximize

Only second year doing spring plots but I feel like I'm holding more deer

In the fall I plant 25 acres (on 400)

Whichever big box store has them in stock...

I find that Academy and Bass Pro are the best options in the Baton Rouge area for selection and price
