Cannizaro Effect...

This is not a Javi-bashing thread, rather a Cannizaro appreciation thread. Although we are hitting 45 points higher that last season, the jury is still out on his contribution to hitting, as we are still in non-conference and we have the "new" ball.
However, there is no denying his effect on the base paths - last season, we stole 49 of 74 bases (66%), and through one quarter of the 2015 campaign, we are 28 of 33 (85%), which projects to 112 stolen bases, or a 128% improvement. And here's the kicker - he's using all the same players.
I'm just happy that we are finally utilizing our speed advantage.

The steals are a huge plus, and I'm ready to see how we hit against SEC pitching. The hitting looks pretty good so far, we even have a few hitters on the bench who can come in at any time and there be no fall off.

I would think that sec quality catchers will have the same effect on our steals as sec quality pitching will have on our batting avg.

The only change we can difinitively put on his shoulders is the steals. The hitting can be attributed at least in part to a much more experienced lineup and possibly the baseballs too. I'm not saying there aren't positives due to Cani, but he is only just a piece of that.

Canni needs to help Laird work on his jump. The fasted guy on the team should not have the worst stolen base percentage. If he gets a better jump his % will go up.

I think laird has lost some speed. Am i just delusional?

We have a veteran lineup this year so we were going to hit better no matter what. When we lose a bunch of these position players after this year, we will probably take a small step back on offense next year.

Hopefully the twins, Byrd and Deich can get some quality AB's in this year.
ETA: Bregs is obviously gone, but do yall think Stevenson and Laird get drafted high enough to leave? It could get scary next year if Fraley, Zardon and Krob are our only returning regulars.
